Search my own activities feature

I'd love it if Strava had a "Search feature" where I could search MY OWN rides. For example, if I titled a ride "Hog's Hollow," it would be cool to be able to search "Hog's Hollow" and see all of my rides to Hog's Hollow instead of having to go through weeks and weeks of rides trying to figure out when I did that ride.

Jeremy, you can currently do this on the website by clicking the Training tab, then My Activities. However, our indexing can get corrupted and some keywords won't always work. It's a known issue.

Contact us directly to get your search re-indexed.

  • Search is awful on Strava! Essentially non-existent. There are so many types of search I'd like to do. None of them work. I can't search my own activities for past towns or regions or specific street or segment names. Let's say I want to find prior rides to "Pescadero" or all my rides in "Colorado" or rides with "Jane Doe" ... There's a search box in Training/MyActivites, but it enables none of this.  Or imagine I want to find a friend who'd ever done a ride in Pescadero or Colorado?  Can't do it, except by stumbling around in popular segments in or near those areas.  This is insane! I can't imagine a bigger bang-for-buck product feature that you could put on your roadmap.

  • And to think, I just want to be able to search through my own Routes better...!

  • The search is catastrophic. At least your own routes should be searchable.
But keywords are not recognized. Please urgently optimize.

  • As a paying customer I think the search is crap, and you're response that it is a known issue not acceptable. It's been like this for years, so GET IT FIXED! Please stop adding new features (that don't exactly make me feel I'm getting value for money because they're not useful or only of limited use) and put your resources to something that we do need.

Or, if you prefer, I can start invoicing you for the time I spend trying to find anything relating to my routes. Alternatively you can give me a discount on my membership.

Apart from being able to search on the titles, I should also be able to search on any of the place names a ride includes. I should also, and this is very very basic, be able to jump through all my 100s of rides as I see fit, and not by one bloody page at a time!

And if you can't do that, provide a tool that allows us to download our stats to a spreadsheet so we can search them using that.

Otherwise I think Strava is wonderful and I'm very glad to be able to upload and access my stats with it.

    Cheers.

  • It appears that my wish for better (any?) search and the core of its features are well represented in the above comments. Consider this post another vote from a longtime Strava Premium user for modern search functionality.

  • I second this and find it hillarious that this has not been addressed yet - this is such a basic feature that I am convinced there are 0 developers (programmers) working at Strava.

I found out that in the my activities search box I have to enter words from the original activity name:

The default names for rides depend on the starting time of it. I usually change these to more meaningful names. But I cannot search for those new names at all. The only thing that does work, is to enter for example "morning", which will find all morning rides, no matter what name they now have...really bad!

  • Chiming in to say search is actually broken now.

I was searching for a ride that contained "Church Farm". Nothing. It also contained a name: searching for that yielded no results, even though this name appears in multiple activities.

  • Now Strava developers have finished with some major GUI changes, can the developers please fix the search issue. Has it ever worked properly? I search for keywords I know are in my rides, but search is only returning rides from 2015 & 2016, none of the 2017 rides are being found.

  • Search is more or less working for me today.  However, it leaves alot to be desired.  It appears to search both title AND description and there is no option to change this.  I also logged a defect this morning for a problem when I enter more than 2 keywords in the My Activities search page.  It's amazing to me that after all this time Strava still doesn't have modern search capabilities.  I'm not a paid Strava member and will likely NEVER pony up for a premium membership until Strava modernizes itself and fixes some of these issues.

  • Please Strava update us on the search issues we have. Any process to make a good search ? (especially focused on my own activities)

  • Use veloviewer for search. It gets all your rides from Strava. Has very powerful search features, once you find your activity in veloviewer, it has a link back to the Strava activity.

  • VeloViewer has an insane amount of functionality built into it.  However, you need to pony up for a paid account in order to view all of your Strava history.  In my case, I don't need all the bells and whistles, just some basic reporting capabilities.  I found this for free at http://www.jonathanokeeffe.com/strava/annualSummary.php.

  • I tried Strava premium thinking that on Premium the search tool will be a real search tool but it's the same. It's insane.

I just need super easy search as all my workout betwween 80 and 120 miles and I can't (of course I could say, only close to LA it'd looks like to a search engine).

It's seems really easier to program than fly by (for example).

  • It's been a year since I complained about this and still you've done nothing! WTF am I paying for here - this isn't a major addition of functionality, it's a basic feature that should already been in. I don't buy this 'we're only a small team' nonsense - you've been busy in other areas that don't add much or anything to my experience.

I also work in software, so I know how easy it'd be to sort out the search. In fact we had a similar problem where I work and we got it sorted out in a month with one developer. So what's your excuse?

And remember that many if not all of the people complaining about this lack of functionality and poor service are PAYING you for the pleasure.

  • Is it just me or is the search feature limited to 100 results?  Like others, I give my activities meaningful and consistent names for my regular routes.  When searching for those activities, the result never shows more than 100 and I know for sure I have ridden that route more than 100 times and named the activity correctly.

  • Hey Strava! We've been talking for almost two years (or more) about how lousy SEARCH is on Strava.  And nothing changes!  I still can't do a Google-like universal search for towns or segment names or keywords in my ride names. And nothing changes. I agree with Mick Davidson -- this should be easy to improve, it's high-value and high-visibility, and why are we paying when we don't see the service improving? Here was my comment over a year ago; it's still standing:

From April 6, 2017: "Search is awful on Strava! Essentially non-existent. There are so many types of search I'd like to do. None of them work. I can't search my own activities for past towns or regions or specific street or segment names. Let's say I want to find prior rides to "Pescadero" or all my rides in "Colorado" or rides with "Jane Doe" ... While I have your attention, if I do, I'll say again that you should revert to the original Timeline in chronological order, and you should let us filter out (hide) when our friends post stupid rides from Peloton, Zwift, etc.  Thanks for listening.

  • If you have a requirement for decent search of your strava activities, use veloviewer.com. The search is how it should be in strava. Yes, you have to pay a small subscription (less than the price of an energy bar per month), but you get a very quick powerful search for you strava activities, and the search links back to strava.

  • This single issue is why I moved to Training Peaks. There's no use in having ride data that you can't search. It's kind of the foundation of data.
