List My Top 10s or "Almost KOMs"

On the KOM page, could you also put a section that would list my "Top 10s"? (or Top 5s) This would be a list of the segments that you've almost made a KOM (but didn't and are still in the top 5 or 10). Some of us are old and we ride where lots of people ride. We get some top 10s, but not a lot of KOMs. Do you feel me?

  • Agreed - where there are lots of riders, its pretty unlikely that we "more seasoned" will get a KOM but its still good to see where we're in with a shout.  I'm always filtering out all but my age band, too.  I also suggested an "Age-band KOM".  I know the accent should be on personal performance and whether we're getting better as individuals, but I can't help but feel the need to chase a KOM or two.

    Cheers

  • I was just about to write a suggestion when I saw this post. This would be great for the reasons above, but also to see which segments you are close to getting KOM so you have something to strive for.  Or if you had one, you could quickly see who stole it.

  • Top ten would be great for those of us who are mere mortals...

  • An overall top ten kom and an age-band kom both sound a step forward to recognise achievement not just the winners.  In every other sport you have a podium so why not a top 10 for Strava!

  • I really don't understand. We have been asking for this feature for years and what does Strava allocate resources to? Instagram stickers.

Really can't understand why this has not already been implemented.

  • Totally agree. I have little chance to get a KOM on a segment where there are a significant amount of riders, but have a decent chance of getting some top 10's. And knowing top 10's will show up on th KOM page, is a great incentive to go after them (the top 10's)!

  • I think a top 10 listing is a great idea, in addition to the KoMs, mainly as an aid to tracking your progress towards the KoM of a segment. I know that I have a few second places here and there along with lots of top tens, but unless I review all of my rides then check the current leaderboards for each segment to see if my results still stand I have no way of identifying possible KoM targets. So come on Strava introduce this feature please. Or expand the API once more and let someone else have a crack.

  • The lack of support for features frequently being asked for has had me not renew my premium membership. Seems Strava is content selling the same website year in year out without improving it. yeah sure, it looks slicker at times and maybe a font changes every now and then but ideas like this one or the possibility to add a ride when your 'garmin' fails has been overlooked year after year.

  • Ridiculous that this still hasn't been implemented. Is anyone listening out there??

  • This is a general issue.  You get a medallion for 8/10 on a segment, but not 12/5973.    In general, medallions should go to the top N places for a segment where N is a linear function of the number of qualifying efforts (Nevents) so far on the segment, for example:

    N = 3 + floor[ Nevents / 100]

Thus in the limit of an infinite number of users the top 1% get medallions.

Alternately a separate medallion series could be established:

    top 0.1%

    top 1%

    top 5%

These medallions could be in addition to the top 10, where the top 10 get precedence.

  • 91 positive comments and 423 supporters and it's still not realized, what a pity!
    Would be an awesome feature!

  • Try a website called veloviewer.com  It connects to your Strava runs and creates summaries of your rides. You can easily see your positions on all segments and apply all sorts of filters. If you are a stats geek or want to see your positions easily try it out. There's few points to consider about making your data viewable to others but you can restrict access through your profile. I have 14 top tens which was news to me.

  • Just made the very same suggestion on the Strava facebook page and was directed here. Totally agree. There is no chance I will ever get a KOM but I have a lot of top 10s I am very proud of and would love to see them all grouped together in some sort of trophy case.

  • Please Strava...

The top 10 tab / page will be completely appreciated. It is frustrating to look at all the segments to see if you are still in the rankings or not. Do it like the KOM page ordered by position / filtered by position.

  • Yet another wasted +1 from me. I’d love to be a part of the development strategy meetings to hear some of the discussions.

  • Hi Strava! I'll gladly come over and implement this for you. It seems like you might have fired all your programmers to reap in the cash instead. Just tell me what language you'd like the code in. It can't be more than 200-300 lines of code at the most.

  • Wow.  SIX PAGES of people asking for this since 2014!!  What's up, Strava?  Should we organize a bake sale to fund development?

  • Since top 10 achievements are listed as trophies, it would seem reasonable to capture them in the trophy case or KOM/CR section

  • Yes please - add this feature ASAP. It's not possible to get a KOM for everyone, or everywhere - competition is often stiff for the 1st place - especially on road bike tracks. But this would add a tremendous motivational boost for all those that strive to get into top 10, slowly improving on their way up to KOM or just trying to hold their ground on a place in top 10 ranking. besides it would help me (and probably lots of others) to keep an eye on those segments where you are improving. and: it's just nice to see your trophies as what they are... achievements for your efforts! Don't just "worship" the "1st-placers", help make "top-tenners" feel like winners, too!

  • Brian S., lowest common denominator features like Instagram stickers and Snapchat filters are what bring account sign-ups to platforms such as Strava. Platforms that otherwise might languish in obscurity. In the great words of Big Tom Callahan, "If you ain't growing, you're dying. There ain't no third direction!"

Thankfully, hipsters can now not only Strava their pub crawl, but seamlessly tell their followers all about it in a Snapchat story.

We can rest assured that these same hipsters will eventually convert into the die-hard KOM-hunting, goal-setting, and data-crunching cyclists that made Strava worth a damn in the first place, thus ensuring the platforms survival for at least a couple more years.
