Suunto Movescount and Strava

You can automatically upload your activities to Strava from Movescount or the Suunto app for select devices.

  1. In Movescount settings click “Connect with Strava” and log into Strava. If you do not have a Strava account, register first.
  2. You can select to sync all of your Moves, only rides or only runs with Strava. You also have an option to turn syncing off.
  3. After the next Movescount sync, your new Moves will be automatically transferred to Strava.
  4. Only new activities will sync to Strava automatically. Activities without GPS data and any lap data will not sync.

Occasionally, we experience temporary outages or delays in the syncing service between Movescount and Strava. Remember, activities without GPS data will not sync to Strava at this time. In the event that your Suunto activity is not synced from Movescount to Strava, you may be able to manually import your activities to Strava by following these steps:

  1. After you sync your watch go to "My Moves" in Movescount.
  2. Click on the icon showing the Move you want to export in the calendar on the right so it loads that Move on the left panel.
  3. Click on Tools in the upper right-hand corner and choose the format you'd like to export the Move in. Only .TCX, .GPX, and .FIT files can be uploaded to Strava.
  4. Save it to your desktop and then log in to Strava and click Upload Activity in the upper right. Select the file you just saved for upload.

  • Integration happens at an inconsistent rate; sometimes moves are uploaded to Strava within 10 minutes of being uploaded from my Suunto watch to Movescount. Other times it can takes several hours. Why is this?

  • why move count from sunto d ont sync any more wth stave got challenge to finish??????

  • to strava

  • Why Garmin or Tomtom are allowed to sync no-gps swim activities and not Suunto?

  • I also have the same problem as Maya above. Sometimes the sync takes hours. Is this an issue on the Movescount side or on the Strava side?

It used to work flawlessly until a couple of weeks ago.

  • My last 2 Runs on my Suunto haven't uploaded, only started happening last wk, what's going on??

  • I'm having the same issue as discussed above by Hugo and Maya, but in my case it is not a delay; basically my moves are not being uploaded since two days ago.
Could someone let us know what is the problem and if there is any fix on its way?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Same as Hugo and Maya from my side. Since one week it take variable time to sync...(from 30min to several hours..., before it takes never more than 10min) it comes from Strava or Movescount side ?

  • I'm with Maya and Hugo. My activities usually upload within minutes of synching my Suunto with Movescount. The past week or so they have been significantly delayed. My activity yesterday took almost 12 hours to upload to Strava. My activity today has not yet been updated in Strava over 10 hours after I synched with Movescount. It is a Strava problem as I also synch with another program and it occurred almost immediately.

  • I revoke my access to movescount unintentionally and know I try to re-synchronize my strava profile with movescount but nothing happens!! I need some help to fixe this!! I don't know where is the problem

    Thanks in advance

  • I connected my Suunto Quest with Strava early this morning, did a workout 6 hours later and no update. Guess it is still broke.

  • Running, biking & skiing activities are sync'ing across fine. None of my swimming activities are coming across from Movescount.

  • Bill, are these open water or pool swimming activities? Strava only accepts activities with GPS, which means no pool swimming. Not sure why your files aren't uploading it they're from open water swimming activities.

  • **** UPDATED 16 APRIL 2016****

Guys this has been resolved, looks liek the distance I did with teh SUUNTO AMBIT 2R had part of it without GPS connection (The beginning) as such the part with GPS connection emasured was shorter than actual distance and only the GPS part was transfered to STRAVA. So make sure youw ait till GPS connection is confirmed if you want SUUNTOMOVECOUNT and STRAVA to have same data.

Guys, seeing inconsistent data between both.,
I have linked my SUUNTOMOVECOUNT to STRAVA and the runs are synchronized, however I see differences between both data as example the MOVECOUNT records 6.31km run with 6'09min/km and time at 0:38'49 while the data into STRAVE shows up as 5.4km run (this is where the major distance is) at 33:38 time and 6'08min/km.

Please advice what could be the issue, I would like the SUUNTO watch to pass data to SSUNTOMOVECOUNT correctly and pass same correct data to STRAVA account.

    Anyone seeing same issues?

  • hey guys, my strava doesn't apload the activitys from my Garmin why this problem. just 6 to 8 weeks ago?

  • Today (May 7, 2016) my activity - with GPS - did not upload from Movescount to Strava. My Suunto Ambit 2R was working fine yesterday. Almost 10 hours later, no data transfered. What's the problem?

  • I think I will add myself to this list. Still waiting on Sync to happen. Does anyone know a way to resolve this issue?

  • I got the same problem. Sometimes Strava synchronizes within 10 mins and sometimes within hours. It also doesnot sync my race with fellow cyclists in Strava

  • Due to the nature of how activity syncing is set up across different platforms (all syncing comes through our API) we occasionally hear of a delay before the activity appears on Strava. When this happens, you have the choice to either manually transfer the activity to Strava instead of waiting, or to wait, or to re-trigger the sync. This can be done by deleting and re-uploading the activity to MovesCount.

  • my Activision did not upload from Movescount to Strava. My Suunto Ambit 3R was working fine 13.05.16. Almost one day no data transfered. What's the problem?i cant doing my trening plan!!

  • Same problem here too. Had no issues when used garmin, but just won't upload from moves count. Surely must be a fix somewhere? Should not take ages or hours to upload activity!

  • Interestingly, if I log in via the web and not the app, my activity syncs straight away! So does that mean an issue with the app then @elle Anderson ?

  • I have experienced the delay before, however, recently none of my recent activities have been transferred to Strava, but they appear to be on Movescount

  • @Richard, can you describe the difference in behavior between the web and app more specifically? You shouldn't need to log in to the app or website to enable activity should sync, it should do so automatically.

@Gines, are you sure your recent activities have GPS data and are compatible to be synced to Strava? Please send along more information if possible.

  • @Elle The activities did have GPS data. The glitch must have been fixed as a run I did yesterday was able to be transferred to starve fine.

  • Same problem here. But i've noticed that when syncing from Movescount, the end time of the activity shows on Strava. So if you do a 1 hour ride at 19.00, Movescount will show the start time "19.00" but Strava will show the start time "20.00". Therefor 1 hour delay and Flybys are useless.

  • hiw come it takes hours for movescount to upload to Strava?

  • No sync without GPS ??? It's a joke ???
How can we sync swimming pool sessions ?

  • Pool swims - you can get into Strava manually by exporting from Movescount as a FIT file and then import that to Strava. Not ideal, but it works.

  • Having Ambit3 and Movecount with autosync to Strava. I also have 1 hour delay on workout, so Flyby is useless. Also, sync from Movescount til Strava app takes 1-2 hours - but on Strava website, my sync is ready right after sync from Movescount - so is seems that the Strava App (iPhone) is a little slow to get the data (or it might have something to so with the 1 hour delay in Flyby sync time)
