Suunto Movescount and Strava

You can automatically upload your activities to Strava from Movescount or the Suunto app for select devices.

  1. In Movescount settings click “Connect with Strava” and log into Strava. If you do not have a Strava account, register first.
  2. You can select to sync all of your Moves, only rides or only runs with Strava. You also have an option to turn syncing off.
  3. After the next Movescount sync, your new Moves will be automatically transferred to Strava.
  4. Only new activities will sync to Strava automatically. Activities without GPS data and any lap data will not sync.

Occasionally, we experience temporary outages or delays in the syncing service between Movescount and Strava. Remember, activities without GPS data will not sync to Strava at this time. In the event that your Suunto activity is not synced from Movescount to Strava, you may be able to manually import your activities to Strava by following these steps:

  1. After you sync your watch go to "My Moves" in Movescount.
  2. Click on the icon showing the Move you want to export in the calendar on the right so it loads that Move on the left panel.
  3. Click on Tools in the upper right-hand corner and choose the format you'd like to export the Move in. Only .TCX, .GPX, and .FIT files can be uploaded to Strava.
  4. Save it to your desktop and then log in to Strava and click Upload Activity in the upper right. Select the file you just saved for upload.

  • @Richard, can you describe the difference in behavior between the web and app more specifically? You shouldn't need to log in to the app or website to enable activity should sync, it should do so automatically.

@Gines, are you sure your recent activities have GPS data and are compatible to be synced to Strava? Please send along more information if possible.

  • Hey guys, dunno if this thread is still active; syncing from movescount to strava is almost instant now but im still getting discrepancies in the collected data (different cycling time, different calories count, different distance etc...) if Suunto is only transferring the data to strava, seems to me the issue could be on Strava's side by somehow "misinterpreting" the collected data??

  • Did the software updates solve the lap data issue ("Lap data is not transferred to Strava")? Or are there plans to fix this/workarounds?

  • Same issue for me this weekend. Activities don't sync to Strava even after several hours but show in the Movescount app. The app is up-to-date according to the App Store. What gives?

  • Pool swims - you can get into Strava manually by exporting from Movescount as a FIT file and then import that to Strava. Not ideal, but it works.

  • Hi team, i uploaded from Movescount to Strava successfully for some time (activity is Running), but recently Strava started getting the moving time wrong (this is weird as the data comes from a watch!), so the pace, speed and other metrics are useless on Strava, except for gragging rights as Strava has me run a LOT faster than in reality...is there a setting I am getting wrong?

    Thanks,
    Alexis

  • **** UPDATED 16 APRIL 2016****

Guys this has been resolved, looks liek the distance I did with teh SUUNTO AMBIT 2R had part of it without GPS connection (The beginning) as such the part with GPS connection emasured was shorter than actual distance and only the GPS part was transfered to STRAVA. So make sure youw ait till GPS connection is confirmed if you want SUUNTOMOVECOUNT and STRAVA to have same data.

    ****************

Guys, seeing inconsistent data between both.,
I have linked my SUUNTOMOVECOUNT to STRAVA and the runs are synchronized, however I see differences between both data as example the MOVECOUNT records 6.31km run with 6'09min/km and time at 0:38'49 while the data into STRAVE shows up as 5.4km run (this is where the major distance is) at 33:38 time and 6'08min/km.

Please advice what could be the issue, I would like the SUUNTO watch to pass data to SSUNTOMOVECOUNT correctly and pass same correct data to STRAVA account.

    Anyone seeing same issues?

  • Having Ambit3 and Movecount with autosync to Strava. I also have 1 hour delay on workout, so Flyby is useless. Also, sync from Movescount til Strava app takes 1-2 hours - but on Strava website, my sync is ready right after sync from Movescount - so is seems that the Strava App (iPhone) is a little slow to get the data (or it might have something to so with the 1 hour delay in Flyby sync time)
