Fitbit and Strava

You can automatically sync your Fitbit activities to Strava. To authorize the connection between Fitbit and Strava, go to http://strava.fitbit.com/ or from the Strava mobile app go to Settings > Applications, Services, and Devices > Connect a new device to Strava > Fitbit.

  • Only new activities will sync automatically after creating the connection. If you wish to export a previous activity from Fitbit and upload it directly to Strava, please refer to Fitbit's instructions on data export.
  • Activities with no GPS data and duplicate activities will not sync to Strava.

What do I do if Fitbit data is not Syncing to Strava?

  1. Try reconnecting your accounts, syncing your Fitbit tracker, and waiting an hour.
  2. Confirm that you are not recording a duplicate exercise in the Strava app and Fitbit app/device simultaneously.
  3. Confirm that you are recording a GPS exercise if using Fitbit (only exercises with GPS on Fitbit will be sent to Strava).
  4. Confirm that you recorded a new exercise after connecting your accounts (previous exercises won’t be uploaded). You can use the TCX export from Fitbit to upload older exercises manually.

  • Fitbit sync down - me and my wife can no longer sync to strava :(...

  • A manual sync option would be great, could fetch all activity that has not been synced from fitbit or other sources.

  • My Fitbit and Strava stopped syncing on June 7th. I cannot figure out how to fix it! I have disconnected Strava from Fitbit and reconnected. Still nothing. Help!

  • Same issue. More than happy syncing from Surge to Strava for over a year. Last week took 24h before it registered my runs, today fail again. What is happening?

  • I have also a problem to synchronize my fitbit Surge with Strava today. It use to work before.
I tried to do again the synch process without success.

    What should I do ?

  • We've recently become aware that Fitbit activities have stopped syncing to Strava. It also seems that Strava activity stats are not being sent to Fitbit.

Earlier today, Fitbit was able to resolve the issue and new activities are again syncing. It's not clear if previous activities held up in the sync issue will be synced retroactively.

Please contact Fitbit support for further assistance, thanks.

  • I believe this is definitely an issue on the fitbit side as it "pushes" your data to Strava, we should all be contacting fitbit support. They have fixed the issue now, I guess someone messed up the push data and it got backed up. Additionally remember you can always export your data as a tcx file and upload it to fitbit using a laptop.

  • My Strava does not sync to my FitBit account for cycling since September of last year. My weight form FitBit does transfer to Strava. I tried revoking and re-establishing the link multiple times but it does not work. PLEASE HELP

  • There seems to be an issue with syncing between fitbit and Strava at the moment. I am getting the following error when trying to do so. {"statusCode":500,"error":"Internal Server Error","message":"An internal server error occurred"}

I have contacted fitbit support and they have not been able to help.

  • Never had a problem syncing heart rate from fitbit blaze with endomondo. Despite linking and carrying phone on my bike strava just doesn't do it. Lame.

  • Aside from the fact that this app is not syncing _anything_ from my Surge...
Why won't it sync activities without GPS? My Microsoft Band app sync activities that don't have GPS.

So, to keep this from being completely argumentative: it seems that this capability is possible, so does it require some sort of prioritization for development? Is there a feature-request page I need to go to?

    Jeff

  • Aside from my query/request above, my Surge is not syncing with Strava (Rides, which include GPS data). I posted on the fitbit site, and a moderator said it must be a Strava issue (which I don't get, since I would think fitbit needs to _push_ the data to Strava, but anyway...). So I've tried disconnecting the accounts and reconnecting, and that doesn't help. I don't see anybody else having issues lately.

  • Nelson C's workaround appears to work best. Granted, I just got my Surge, recorded 2 test runs, tonight. Synced w/FitBit app after each, and no Strava sync. Then I tried Nelson's workaround, recorded a fake activity in the app - 1:00 run, saved that, and bam! Previous runs sync with Strava perfectly thereafter. Fake event didn't because I was idle. Has to be some GPS data for Strava to recognize, I guess.

  • My last ride (zwift) is registered properly on Strava, but is not appearing on my fitbit. Previously this was perfecty working.
I already pinged fitbit, but there they say all looks good, what can I do to make this happen, I already revoked access and connected again.... Thank you for your help

  • I sync'd my Fitbit on Saturday. It's still not automatically uploading my activity. Anything else I need to do to get this activated???

  • Followed all instructions and no link to Fitbit Charge HR. Ugh. Not fun anymore and too much work.

  • I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Am a new Blaze user, have the app, but when I try to log my exercise from the FitBit app, the only exercise activities I can pick are Walk or Run. I normally pick Run to collect the data, then change the type to a Ride in Stava; but there doesn't seem to be a way to change it, or correctly log the activity as a Ride. Can someone please point out what I'm missing?

  • Hi, I tried for a lot of months and it did not make it. Now I have no nervs about this and I bought a new tracker (Garmin) now it works without Problems......
