Garmin and Strava sync troubleshooting

Occasionally, we hear of issues when trying to link your Garmin Connect and Strava accounts, as explained in the article on Uploading from a Garmin device.

If you're getting a blank page or a spinning wheel when trying to link accounts:

    1. Try another supported browser. We've heard of this problem existing only for certain browsers, but not others.
    2. Try clearing your browser cache, then restarting your browser.
    3. Try one of the other three ways to link your accounts (below).

There are 3 ways to link your accounts:

    1. From your Strava settings page, on the right hand side, under the main menu drop down on the website.
    2. From the large orange widget on your Garmin Connect account, if you have a Garmin 510/520/810/1000 already connected.
    3. From the Strava mobile app: Click More > Settings > Link Other Services.

  • For more troubleshooting tips, see the report posted here.

  • Had the same issue with GC and Strava not connecting. I tried Macbook/Firefox and the Android/Stava App without success. Switching to Safari on the Macbook solved the problem immediately!

  • Thanks Allan, We're also troubleshooting on our end with Garmin.

  • Using Chrome browser solved my problem.

  • I can't sync using Chrome ,Firefox or Safari.

  • Mike, looks like we were able to solve your sync issue through a support ticket. Sidney, I see your ticket in our system and we'll respond soon. Thanks!

  • I can't connect through safari.

  • I have an edge 500 and it wont seem to link with Strava. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried linking through Garmin Connect as well as Strava. I have used Chrome too. Nothing has worked so far.

  • Michael - I've started a support ticket for you so that we can respond directly. Thanks!

  • I am in the same boat. I've tried through Chrome, safari and through the Strava app.

  • I am unable to connect my Edge 520 to my Strava account. I use the Garmin Express iphone app and Strava app but have also tried to connect via my laptop.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Duncan.

  • I synced my Garmin 520 with garmin connect earlier this evening and some 5 hours later there isn't anything in my strava account, I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the device with my strava profile but still nothing.

  • I cannot connect Strava to my Garmin Connect account. I have tried using Chrome, Firefox, IE and the app - each time I get a blank screen or if I try a second time, an error message.

I raised a ticket and simply got generic instructions on how to link...not helpful!

  • I cannot sync at all between Strava and Garmin Connect - so disappointing. I hope there is a fix soon?

  • Just signed up to Strava but can't sync my Garmin Forerunner 405 with Strava despite having downloaded to Garmin Connect - tried Safari and Chrome with no success. Getting frustrated as embarking on my first half marathon - any help much appreciated pls.

  • Have been syncing between Garmin connect and Strava with no problem, until today..Garmin express tells me I'm up to date and synced, but today's ride is not on my Strava account :-(

  • Hi - both my garmin connect and strava apps tell me I am connected . But, my activity is not syncing to my Strava account...

  • Hi

I have a Garmin 500. I connected the USB lead to my computer. My ride uploaded to Garmin connect activities page okay. I then checked to see whether the ride had automatically uploaded to Strava but nothing is showing. Could you please advise?

  • I'm having the same issue with Garmin Edge 1000. GC and Strava are connected, at least they both say they are. My ride shows on GC but is not uploaded onto Strava. My Wahoo uploads with Strava fine.

  • Garmin connect is not syncing with strava since updating despite re-linking the apps. 2/11/2016. Got to say that experiencing lots of issues on garmins end with the 520 edge recently, please pass on that if ain't broke don't fix it.

  • Hello
I seem to be having the same problem. My Garmin 1000 has been syncing beautifully (except a few occasions when it took a few hours). My last few rides uploaded to Garmin Connect just fine, but nothing shows up on my Strava. This is so so frustrating. I have logged out, ran updates on my computer, phone and Garmin 1000 and still nothing. any advice?

  • I have a quick fix that has worked for me since leaving my past comment. In the garmin 520 edge (or whatever you have) check out Menu, History, Rides. Look to see if your missing ride is in there. If yes then go to the Garmin connect App and delete the ride BUT ONLY in the garmin connect app, not the garmin device (I.e 520) itself . Now go back to Rides on the garmin 520 edge, select the troublesome ride and you will see a screen saying Summary e.c.t. Now at the bottom of this screen there is an upload ride option. Select upload ride and re-sync. This has since sorted it out the issue and had no problems since.

  • Arrgh. Just tried Rich's fix, but there's no upload option at the bottom of the page that starts out with "Summary." And now, though the ride is still on my Edge 520, it won't even load into Garmin Connect.

  • My 520 has been fine syncing to strava for months. But the last 2 rides upload to connect but not to strava? Any ideas?

  • Same problem. I have a new Fenix 3 saphire. GC is supposedly connected to Strava just fine but nothing has been sent to Strava.

  • Thanks @Rich! I've used this trick successfully as well:

  • What i found is once you've connected to Strava sure enough activity after that point is synced to Strava - i went for a short walk down the street and it was in Strava a few mins later. Perhaps it would have eventually sucked the past 30 days of activity but to save mucking around I imported the historical FIT files manually directly from the device - which is easy and works.

  • ARGH... I have a new Fenix 3 saphire. No matter what method I used to sync with Strava - all fails at the page of link authorization.

"We're sorry. The page you're looking for no longer exists." kind of sad...

  • Zen - Sorry for the troubles linking your Strava and Garmin Connect accounts. There was an issue yesterday that broke the authentication between the two services. It has since been fixed.
