Strava on Windows phones

Strava does not offer an App for Windows Phones or Windows 10 and unfortunately, we do we have plans to support this operating system in the future. However, there are a handful of options or workarounds recommended by our community so that you can still post your GPS data to Strava:

  1. CycloMeter App: From the CycloMeter App, there is a plugin that can be purchased for a small amount to allow data to be automatically published to Strava.
  2. Cycle Tracks GPS: Similarly, publishing data to Strava from this app is a one-time add-on purchase.
  3. Run the Map
  4. Run.GPS
  5. Cyclers app for Windows phones

  • I use Sports Tracker. The latest version has resolved all the previous timing issues (there used to be an error in the start time of the ride which was a bit of a pain to manually correct). It is now really easy to upload to Sports Tracker, export to the computer and then upload to Strava. It has the added advantage of a separate record of the ride.

A dedicated WP app would still be nice though. However it's free to use and works well as it is, so nothing like the problem it used to be.

  • Olly, I've just downloaded the app on my lumia 635 and it looks good so far, can't wait to try it out properly! When looking at my news feed for people I follow I can't see who did which ride though, is that something you can add?

  • I use Cyclometer, great support and works a treat now that long ride issues have been sorteed out. As for a Strava for Windows app maybe it's time for a rethink with Windows 10 coming along with Visual Studio also supporting Android and OSX.

  • plus one here! I use my Windows phone for digital radio and garmin for strava. I'd go Windows Phone all out if I could (The stem/bars are pretty cluttered at the moment by the time you add light, bell, laserbeams :) )

  • It might be just as easy to use something like Endomondo on windows phone, and then a service like tapiriik.com to push across to Strava.  Appreciate that doesn't help if you want to give kudos/comment from your phone, but might be a solution for your own runs/rides.

  • 3 years passed, your company is still planning to support this operating system in the future.  Good long trying....

  • Olly, I've also downloaded your app, Tracks for Strava, and it looks good so far. I have literally just upgraded to a nokia lumia 635 over the weekend and this strava issue was going to form part of the case for me to change the handset to something completely different. I can't wait to try it out - hopefully won't have to argue my case for changing back to android now! As something missing - looking at the news feed for people I'm following, it doesn't say who did which ride anywhere. Is that something you can add?

  • +1 for native app for Windows phone - the best tracking app on the best mobile platform please.  I've used Strava on iOS and Android, on Windows phone I use Cycle Tracks which is pretty good and pushes my rides to Strava, but I also want a Strava app on my Windows 10 phone

  • Hi Chris

Thanks for the update of the MS band. Have been tempted to get one and seeing that it works with Strava might just be the answer. Would you mind sharing a link to the ride on strava so I can see how the data looks when on the service (eg the heart rate data)

    Cheers. Rich

  • Striver just recently updated their app.  So far it has worked for me,  The developer also has a club here on Strava which is useful for support of the software.

  • todd: no, windows universal platform is the target here. that means potencially bilions of devices. desktops, tablets and phones. what we are basically asking for is touch friendly UI. Not that UX mess the web page currently is.

On the other hand, MS is soon going to provide tools for porting apps from iOS to UWP. If strava will not take advantage of it'd be a little unfortunate. I'd even said they are hostile to windows.

  • I was excited about Strava a year ago, and I signed up. Then I discovered you can't log rides after the fact you have to real time track them. I didn't have fancy GPS computers or a smartphone at the time so I discovered Mapmyride and UA Record. I was excited two days ago to finally get a smartphone and be able to use Strava. All my friends have raved about it and I was excited to finally try it. To my disappointment, No WP app. WHAT?? 18 months ago there were more than 50 MILLION WP users worldwide. Sorry Strava, surely you have your reasons. I have mine too for using a windows phone. I'm not going to go through all the converting and transferring of a third party app, just because you can't see the sense in making a native app. I'll continue to use and I'll continue to convert my friends to Mapmyride and UA Record. 4 friends down, 6 to go. Oh, and I'm won't be coming back to check again. I'm gone forever.

  • Phil, We have to keep up the conversation. My reply from the support team is, they don't build an app for Windows "Mobile". Which is circa 2010 - to 8.1. I'm asking about Windows 10, totally different platform and I hope their development team understands the difference. 1 platform all devices -> 1 billion users by 2022.

I don't want an API vendor, I want the real thing, so my premium membership is worth it. Right? On a pure valuation play alone, it makes sense - watching the 26 billion play on LinkedIn, why not look attractive to the Windows 10 environment? As you mentioned Phil, at a very low cost!

As an investment play alone it's worth porting.  As a user, I love Strava!  If you could only hear me try to convert my MapMyRun (MMR) friends - it's funny...  "Now you see the difference between MMR and Strava. Strava's for athletes, MMR is for dad bods randomly posting the charity 5k"  I'm on your team guys, just give me the Windows app!

  • I see there have been requests to develop a WIndows app since 2014. It's now 2017 and still no app! I use a Magellan computer, so I have to do a 2-step process to get the ride onto Strava, which doesn't bother me at all, but I'd really like to be able to put photos up, via Instagram (which does have a Windows app), but you don't, so I can't and my Strava buddies miss out on seeing my ride pics. Is it just a snobbery thing? I know Windows phones aren't exactly objects of desire, but there must be a lot of Strava members out there like me, who have them, who you're ignoring.

  • Disappointed to see that Strava has developed a new strava app for the Apple Watch which currently has zero user base essentially.   When you have a sizable windows user base that has been requesting this for a while.

  • I use Caledos to track my run/walk/bike etc and upload it directly from inside the app. No need to export/import GPX files. It's a fantastic app and actually works really great! I would like to connect with my biking buddies which Caledos doesn't do but besides that, I think you'll like it!

  • hello.

my turn to demand the strava app for WP.

I am not a professional biker but I like to measure my perfomance more professionally and lack of strava app for WP is my only reason not to upgrade to premium.

  • David - yes. If you use the Band, you don't really view the results on the device itself. You sync the Band to your phone and view the results there. It takes about 30 seconds. In the process of syncing, the data is automatically passed through to Strava. The app that syncs is called "Microsoft Health", and the screenshots I've included are from that app.

  • My company is just about to roll out Windows 8 phone as well :-( This will happen more and more in the future as companies finally uograde to Windows 8 on their desktops. Makes sense to then switch to a Windows 8 phone...
