Does Strava support the Polar Wearlink+ Bluetooth heart rate monitor?

As you all know we have been evaluating the Wearlink+ for a little while now. During our testing we have noticed a disturbing tendency of the device to disconnect from the phone. After doing some research on the internet** and with other apps it appears to be a common theme with the hardware. Unfortunately, the Wearlink+ is not compatible with most Android models. For the vast majority of devices out there the only known workaround seems to be to constantly replace the battery. Sadly, that means we cannot officially support this device.

I want to sincerely thank everybody for expressing interest in Wearlink+ support, but we will not be adding in official support in our apps. In our mission to support our community of athletes, we base our decisions to integrate with devices on the ability to ensure the best performance tracking experience possible. We would not think of giving you anything less.

  • I just got Polar wearlink+ from a sports-shop in Trondheim. I think it is the most common strap to get in a shop in my country.

I am very keen to use it with Strava. best regards Bjørn Eirik

  • Hi! Just got the BT strap from my local shop.

It would be beautiful if you could add support for it.

    Best regards.

  • +1, RinKeeper has support for multiple HR monitors, it was a surprise to me that Strava only introduced support for 1.

  • +1

my Polar WearLink+ transmitter with Bluetooth works on any running app except strava (my favourite....)

  • When will have the new version of strava that support polar bt strap ?? many people waiting for .....

  • Looking forward to plans for support of bluetooth low energy monitors. Any idea of the schedule that can be shared for this future technology?

  • please enlarge your support to HR monitor such as Polar Wearlink+, and it is guaranteed Strava will be much popular among runners

  • I wont upgrade until there is support for polar straps, come on guys.

  • Strava is my favourite running and cycling app but i am disappointed that it does not support my Polar bluetooth heart rate monitor.  I may have to use another app that does.  Please support polar

  • Strava is a great app, but it could be better with more heartrate monitors compatibility. Polar Wearlink is one of them. I hope it would be supported soon.

  • I am on my second polar HRM this ones a rcx5 TDF and it doesn't work with strava?? Really really would like this to be sorted, I used a wear link hybrid strap.

  • Why wouldn't you make it compatible for the Android App? (the iPhone app works fine with Polar)

When's the android version going to be updated?

  • Seriously guys... Would consider going pro, but never without support for leading hrm technology. I guess I'm moving back to Endomondo, where $1 gets me so much more.

  • Got the Wearlink+ for christmas. Really want it to work with my favorite, Strava.

Can anyone tell if and when it will be supported?

  • Polar support essential for me and it's the only reason I'd consider going Premium.

  • +1 I already have a Polar and dont want to rebuy a new monitor just for one app.

  • +1 on the Polar link, when it is available I will upgrade.

  • Same here. I want and need Polar Wearlink+ support. When initially looking for a HRM, the Zephyr actually was my first choice, due to ostensible involvement in the medical field, but it's nigh impossible to get one in Europe. Polar was the next best option, but it ain't supported on Android.

  • Hi Tom, Polar is supported on Android (Endomondo, Sportypal al work fine with it), it's just not yet supported by Strava.

  • I know. I'm however looking for another solution, after Endomondo kneecapping their service. If I have to pay a sub anyway, I'm going elsewhere, and Strava came up.

  • 1+ for support of the Polar Wearlink+ bluetooth HR monitor.

  • As the Wearlink complies with the advertised Bluetooth compatabilty ( ie not LE/Smart) am disappointed Strava on Android can only use Zephyr HR monitors.  I have now installed a competitive app just to use Polar HR monitor.  C'mon Strava!

  • 1+ for support of the Polar Wearlink+ bluetooth HR monitor.

  • 1+ for support of the Polar Wearlink+ bluetooth HR monitor. Or add support for ANT+ HR monitors for use with Sony Xperia phones

  • +1 from me too!

  • Keen to see Strava add wider support for heart rate monitors.  Full marks when you do!

  • I have been using my Polar Wearlink + HTM strap with Endomondo for some time now and would like to use Strava! please add support for it...

  • It will be nice to use Strava with Wearlink. + 1

  • Strava and Wearlink. + 1

  • Please make strava compatible with Polar, after all the most common heart rate monitor.
