Magellan Cyclo and Strava

  1. Upload your activities to Magellan's online application. You can wirelessly connect your Cyclo 505 and 505hc with MagellanCyclo to automatically sync your tracks.
  2. Through MagellanCyclo, you can configure your account to simultaneously transfer your data to Strava. The new data will also appear in Strava automatically.
  3. If your device has a barometric altimeter, keep in mind that Strava may not be able to process this elevation data.

  • yeah I tried the above, but still no joy. Cannot seem to get things to sync. I think Magellan/Strava have a deeper problem. Not sure what it is... but its not working....

  • My Cyclo505 is now doing what it should (& the Magellan website too).
Does your 505 link to other (non-strava) accounts?
Mine (always) did and the trouble I was experiencing seened to be just re-setting the Strava link/un-link stuff in several Magellan/mio/Navman websites.
I expect that if you are unable to link to, say, Endomondo &/or TraininagPeaks as well then the issue may be with your device. (I assume you are able to upload (WiFi) to the MagellanCyclo website).

  • Thanks for the tips guys - I had to go to the mioshare.com website and log-in, then link to Strava.

Seems that although I've always had magellancyclo.com account linked, this is somehow different to the mioshare.com account, even though the log-in details are the same...

So, in short, make sure you've gone to both mioshare.com and magellancyclo.com and linked them to your Strava account...!

  • Agree with James above. Linking via the mioshare website is the key to get it working.

  • I have received an e-mail from Tech Support confirming that the above is the way to go:
    "
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

I received the feedback from our head office regarding this matter. You will need to link your account at www.mioshare.com with the same log in account details as www.magellancyclo.com. Once you have linked your Strava account, only then will your data appear in Strava. This will only need to be done once. You can still continue using the www.magellancyclo.com.

If you have further queries in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll be more than happy to assist you.
    "
Now all we need to do is to mark this thread as SOLVED, or even better, write a new article with the correct/up-to-date instructions for linking MagellanCyclo 505 with Strava.

  • Hi, some one of you can use Strava Live Segments in your Magellan Cyclo 505?

  • Yep, James' tip worked for me - you need to set up both. I had set up Strava in mioshare only and not magellancyclo and found my Cyclo 505 would only upload to strava if I connected to the PC but not if I used WIFI to upload - so despite the upload showing in both mio and magellan it will only send PC uploads from Mio and WIFI uploads from Magellan. Note: the same goes for starred segments - you need to have them set up the same in Mio and Magellan. If you don't it will switch the setting for Starred Segments depending on which type of upload you did last - PC or WIFI.
