We've been tracking app crashes on Android linked to the MediaTek MT6752 processor. The crashes can happen on startup or when navigating elsewhere in the app. We are still investigating a fix, and will be sure to keep you updated (please Follow this post for updates).
Take a moment to check if your Android device has this problematic processor:
We've temporarily blacklisted some devices until the fix can be released:
- Lenovo A7000
- All Elephone devices
If you would like to download the previous version of the app (which should not crash) you can do so here.
Thanks, and keep us posted with your comments below!
August 30, 2016 update:
We've had success in solving most of the Android crash reports stemming from the MediaTek processor phones.
However, there is one open Google Play Services issue that is still causing some phones to crash when viewing Strava Activities such as the BQ Aquaris, Lenovo, UMI, and some other phones. Unfortunately, the fix will need to be addressed within Play Services, not Strava, and it will not be ready for release for a few weeks.
We will keep this thread informed as much as possible.
October 6th, 2016: Google Play Services issue has been resolved.
