Changes to fitness & freshness curves?

Today (1/24/2017), I noticed that my "fitness & freshness" curve drastically changed compared to what it looked like yesterday. In particular, when I peaked last year, in September, my fitness index was around 40, as of yesterday. This morning, it shows that I was at 100. I am not sure why old data would change all of a sudden. Was a new version of the site released overnight that would cause this apparent regression?

  • Strava seems to have changed the way it uses data that comes from a power meter vs. just heart rate data...

  • I'm also a little confused by the change. While my fitness level seems to be accurate, I find that I can no longer see values for forecasted future fitness and form levels (just shows the curves, but doesn't display numbers). I always liked this feature for being able to calculate taper (if I started resting today) for an event. https://www.strava.com/athlete/fitness

  • I like to see values for forecasted future fitness and form levels as well. I'd like for it to come back please.

  • I noticed the same (really not sure about the new font choices either!) but on refreshing the page the old 'scores' returned. The future projections are still missing but at least the values look right. I also noticed that for a day or two the trace identified where I had ridden and classified the activity as a race. I thought this was very useful for identifying if I'd got my training peaks right. Unfortunately this also disappeared as quickly as it had materialised. Hopefully it will be reinstated...

  • I am totally confused as my data from the past seems to be changing.  My curve remains the same (which I guess is the important part) but the numbers changed.  For example, for the longest time, my peak fitness of the summer was 34 on august 8th, a few days ago I surpassed that, and then the data from august changed to 35.  Yesterday I was at 38 (cycling only), today after my ride, I am at 28, and my peak from August is now down to 25?!  How is data from the past changing?  Can this have to do with my FTP going up?  Is anyone else having the same issue and if so, how do you fix it? Thanks!

  • Mystery solved!  I changed my FTP back to what it was before my FTP test yesterday and all my numbers went back to where they were.  So I guess the numbers really don't matter and I will just concentrate on seeing the curve go up!  FTP back to my new number and no more minding the numbers on the curve.

  • Curious about my overnight shift of Fitness vs. Freshness. I started using a smart trainer and Zwift about 2 weeks ago. Previously I had only used a HR monitor and I'd imagine Strava utilized my HR vs terrain and times to help gauge F vs F. I was previously at approx 67 Fitness and overnight went down to 44. The curve is consistent and appears that my fitness is the highest it's been all year (started using HR in Feb). Issue does not appear to be FTP enters related. Thoughts?

  • Also very interested in this! My fitness and freshness score - all time peak was about 105... as of the last few weeks I was about 42... only HRM and speed etc.

I started using a kickr trainer w/ HRM about 5 or so virtual rides ago... only TONIGHT I checked my fitness freshness score; and it is down to 23, and my all time peak is about 65...

What has changed? Interested in the numbers and what exactly happened there?!

    Someone please explain. Greatly appreciated.

  • No change in my FTP seemingly according to settings... the manual entry I have. But the estimated FTP given power metre / curve is now present and a bit lower?

  • If changing your FTP changes past history than this PMC graph is useless. The real analysis tools have an FTP per ride. The value of a ride 3 months ago depends upon your FTP then, not your FTP now.

  • My fitness & freshness went down from 63 to 53 overnight.  What the?  And the the exact same ride I did last week at 101 suffer score was 75 yesterday.  Almost identical time in zones, route, etc.

  • This is so obvious. I don't understand that it can be the case that the FTP update in the profile affects all past rides. It makes the data from the past completely screwed up.

  • Since the fitness has been available on the mobile app, my scores on the web page have dropped by 10 points. On the web graph my activities are not showing as being done on the correct days. eg.14 vise grips performed on Wed 9th October, is showing on the web graph as being completed on Tues 8th October.
Can you explain & rectify this.
    Thanks
