Does strava still work on low power mode?

Since I updated my iPhone 6s to iOS 11 my battery life has deteriorated so I was wondering does strava still work & record my activity if I activate low power mode?

  • Yes, you can turn off pretty much everything (wifi, bluetooth, and cellular) and Strava records just fine. Turning of cellular means you won't get live segments (or phone calls, for that matter, of course).

Note that in iOS 11, turning off WiFi from the command center (which you get by swiping up from the bottom of the screen) doesn't actually turn WiFi off, as it looks like it should do and as it did prior to iOS11. In iOS11 that control merely disconnects you from the current hotspot, so if you want to truly turn the WiFi antenna off, you have to go to the Settings app and turn it off there.

Doing all this with an iPhone7 plus, I still had 48% battery after an 18-hour ride.

  • You rode your bike for 18 hours straight!?

  • No, there were (too) many short stops along the way. Otherwise it would have been 17 hours.
