Mountain Bike and Trail Running should be Activities

Yoga is an activity but Mountain Biking is not. This alone tells you how much Strava cares about MTB. No disrespect to yoga but the features of Strava were designed around movement and MTB and Road Riding are as different as any other activities in the activity list.

Come on. You differenciate between Run/Walk/Hike, Canoe/Kayak/Rowing, Alpine Ski/Backcountry Ski/Nordic Ski/Roller Ski. If you were forward thinking enough to create all these separate categories that amount to the same activity then where is Mountain Biking??? For that matter where is Trail running? Another activity that is vastly different from it's road cousin.

  • I second this, but I bet there are plenty more comments supporting this. I'd just like it to be a cycling filter.

Some reasons for this are: Segment Exploring, Workouts used in activity tracking apps miscalculate calories burned for mountain biking since the pace may be slower, etc.

I ride both road and mtb, and would like to be able to filter a differentiation.

  • And some more MTB specific challenges would be nice. Not that I'd ever be close to the top of any leaderboard, but it's pretty difficult for MTB'ers to compete with roadies when it comes to distance/climb challenges. Amazes the crap out of me when I see people complete 10,000m climb challenges in 1 day.

  • Any split of road & MTB should be extended to the segments as I know of a few segments in woods where road riders gps drift has filled all the top spots on the off-road section.

  • I totally agree. They even have E-bike as an activity but not mountainbiking.
