  • Hi all, coming from Suunto where it works seamlessly and now on Garmin, I really thought this was a given. Please! ;)

  • Hi. I agree to everyone here. I have garmin watch, and don’t want to sync my walks around town to Strava, only my bike rides. Hopefully Strava or Garmin look into popular requests.

  • Yes, This is annoying.  I should be able to decide by type what is public and what is private.  I'm fine with everything uploading to strava, but I don't need my friends getting spammed with every walk.  Heck, it would be nice to have rides under 5 miles not auto upload either.  I love to keep track of mileage on my bikes, but I don't need to share every commute.  (bummed there isn't a solution here)

Official response says not during first half of 2019; we're now in second half of 2019 - any update?

  • So is this a Strava or Garmin issue. Have just got a Vivoactive Garmin... and don’t want me attempt at a Yoga workout muddying my perfect run and ride feed on Strava.

  • Clearly they don't care about users. As long as people pay for Summit, that's all Strava wants. As for Garmin, they're already selling more fitness tracking devices than anybody else. Why bother with this petty request from 99% of it's user base?? Wow, honestly

  • Yeah, I'll add my name to the long list of users looking for this same thing. I walk my kids to school each morning and don't need that uploaded to Strava.

  • I'll add my name, again, because I can;t believe this is STILL an issue.  Can someone at Strava provide an update? Can you confirm if this issue is something Strava can fix or if we need to pester Garmin?

Hey strava - let me remind you - the initial post is from OCTOBER 2016 - now celebrating over 3 years of inaction on member feedback!!

  • I've made a new "idea" post suggesting they update this now outdated response; feel free to also post there:

  • I'm also looking for the way to sync only specific activities on Strava. Any official information from Garmin/Strava?

  • The current integration module works on the STRAVA side. Strava is logged into your GARMIN account and downloads  all activities. I don't know what the problem is for STRAVA developers to limit download activity. They can also download everything and in the next step delete some activities on the STRAVA profile after importing - according to the settings.
Garmin doesn't have an integration interface for STRAVA and probably won't create it, and that would be the best solution.

  • I just got my first Garmin watch and signed up for a Strava account.  Logged a run last night and less than 24 hours later, I thought "man I hope this doesn't sync all my stupid walks."  And now here I am.  Seems like an extremely simple feature that one or the other could add.

  • Absolutely appaling that nothing has been done about this after many years.

Typically, companies that treat its customers like this always go out of business.

Enjoy it while you can boys.

  • HELLO? STRAVA? Are you there?

Seems this is a poplar ask.

  • No other feature request, at least for the past year, has even a small fraction of the votes this one does. Strava, what is the point of a new feature suggestion page if it doesn't guide new development or even garner an update from you on why this can't be done? I'm a software developer and I suspect this is less than 8 to 16 hours of programming.

  • I would also like to be able to only transfer GPS activities. Run, bike, hike and walk. I’m having to manually delete yoga, weight lifting etc from strava.

Just got my first Garmin for Christmas and it's uploading all my cardio sessions... my friends/followers don't need to know about them, what a load of spam they'll see!!!

When I first saw this had been asked for in 2016, I felt sure there'd be a solution by now, i.e. 2020...quite unbelievable (not to mention disappointing) that there isn't!

  • For those of you that are Summit members, might want to consider canceling your summit membership the next time your renewal comes around and then let Strava know why you cancelled. Money talks!

  • Any update on this one?  I also agree as a programmer that this shouldn't be too hard.  Should take some conditional logic in the integration code with Strava and a settings page with check boxes for each available activity type.  If it's such a popular request, any reason why it's not being prioritized?

  • Given that iFit and Strava don't play well together, I'm forced to manually upload my treadmill sessions to Strava.  I don't need Garmin exporting my treadmill sessions as well.  Would love to see what seems like a simple request to be implemented.

I'm also happy to let my Summit membership lapse until this is fixed.  Between Garmin and TrainingPeaks, I doubt I will miss it.
