Report an achievement on a segment that was wronglly registered

It is usual to get times on segments that we didn't really passed trough, for example if there is a fire road parallel  to a technical descend with a segment, the top ten results on the leader board will be filled of slow riders descending the fire road, and the real 10 fastest down hill riders would be out of the top ten places. In this cases would be helpful to have the ability to report an achievement or ask to remove it from the leader board. This should be available to the athlete of the activity or to others who detect the wrong achievement on the segment.

  • I agree with this. I think we should have the option to flag an incorrect activity on the leaderboards for review. There's one I do frequently, and the top two positions had their activities marked as a "run" when they were clearly "rides." It's essentially unachievable to beat their times, as a result.

  • You can do this already. Not too obvious though as I had to Google how to despite having previously done it after seeing several local riders beat the TdF peloton riders strava scores by a very unlikely amount. The TdF route in Sheffield went close by the main A+E department on route from a DH trail area and usually you forget to turn your GPS off after having an accident that needs an ambulance calling out.

However there's twisty off road single track segment in the Peak District that runs parallel to a main road that road bikes fly down as well as those leaving GPS on whilst driving home.  That road section is also part of a strava segment. Sorting out the false leaders is tricky there as separating segments on roads/track that run close to each other is something Strava struggles with. There are two climbs up to my house that used to be recorded separately and now whichever one you attempt, it registers on the other. :/

  • Hi "Jeremy L." that solution its not very good because if we flag the entire activity the user will loose his time from all segments, which may not be fair. For example a strong climbing athlete how makes a KOM on the biggest climb of his town and in the same ride he passes near a DH segment on the fire road and catch it incorrectly giving him a wrong top 10, if he gets flagged by a DH athlete because of the DH segment he will loose the well deserved climb KOM he achieved on that ride. Because of this it would be better to flag only the segment time and not the entire activity!

  • So does flagging a bad segment kills the entire ride?  If so that sucks and is something Strava needs to fix. Only the segment result in question needs to be elided.

Reminded by this request the other day I just reported the top three places on a local segment where the GPS went briefly haywire with average speeds of 180kmh, 90kmh and 80kmh by roadies up a short technical singletrack. All three were on the road running perpendicular to the track, so there should be no overlap anyway.
Now checking it again, the chap doing 90kph up this track which also would be  impossible even going down the road he was actually on, still has KOM with a patently false time. Heck the KOM rider on that road section only managed  a max of 80kph at same point.

  • Well that's exactly the problem, we can't flag a segment, we can only flag a ride and give the wrong segment as a cause for flagging, but that ride can have other segments with fair achievements that will disappear too. We should have the ability to just flag a single segment achievement.

  • Agreed.  Nothing like having a kick-ass segment ride and then finding out you are #2, second to a rider going ~2x your speed, obviously in his/her car.  Need to be able to report bad segments times.
