Sync from Strava to Garmin Connect

I  can only seem to push from Garmin to Strava. What I want is to use the app to record runs when I have no Garmin device and push to Garmin Connect. Then I can have my data in both platforms. Is that possible?

In my Garmin Connect account settings I see that Strava can only read. Is that correct?

  • Thanks for asking Aaron, this isn't a feature we have planned, but I can see the usefulness for it. Likely the primary reason we don't have this feature is because it hasn't been asked for by enough of our members to be considered.

  • VERY surprised this feature isnt added yet! +1 to the count. Could it be that Garmin is blocking it to make their hardware more relevant?

  • I expected this feature too. Runkeeper and Fitbit have this facility so I'm really disappointed to find it's not there. I bought a Garmin without GPS expecting to be able to send distance details from strava to Garmin to record this accurately and to see it with my heart rate. All I have for the moment is 2 entries in strava for the same activity, one with map and one with heart rate. Useless!

  • +1 to this feature from me as well. I use Strava to record runs, my fitness pal for dietary needs and Garmin connect to consolidate all of it. it would be nice to have them all talk to each other both ways so I don't have to spend the hours i do managing data and hand entering tons of unnecessary stuff.

  • Has anyone had any luck bringing Peloton workouts from strava into Garmin Connect?  My wife wants a tread, but for me as a triathlete, the data availability of the Peloton is worthless unless I can figure out how to get the distance/speed data out of it.  I've considered a stryde, but the foot pod just seems like an unreasonable necessity for a $4,000 treadmill.

  • Come on Strava make this happen. I use both apps and would like both to synchronize for times I use Wahoo which doesn’t pull from Strava to GC.

  • I am wondering why is that radio silence from customer support in this matter?!

Come on Strava, you do already make beautiful things for us, one more would just make you better :-)

  • There's radio silence because this, just like the endless pool feature that i've been asking for from Garmin, isn't a priority feature that will help them get acquired for a billion bucks.  At the end of the day, they both claim they read and work on requests, but now that the software is built, I would bet there are probably only 3 programmers that actually work for the company after they laid the development team off years ago.  I've seen this happen with tech companies over and over again.  Huge push to build it, then takes years to get around to the nice to haves.

  • @Travis Jennings  Thanks for the workaround, but this isn't a solution to getting my workouts from a peloton tread into training peaks.  I'd be better off with a footpod and tracking it in garmin to start with.  Just a joke of an integration.

  • The part that really grinds me, is that I feel like Garmin is really the only one who really wants to be the solution with both push/pull capabilities.  Strava has a really cool system with the segments & the social aspect, but it's not a real solution to true athletes who use additional systems like Training Peaks to actually get better.  I think there are 2 camps in the software space, those who target the masses who want a GPS track of their 2.8 mile run at 11 min pace and to show their friends they're off the couch, which Strava does a wonderful job of doing, and Training Peaks, who is a real analytics tool for serious athletes trying to be efficient and effective.  The fact that they think there's a battle between them is a joke, so why not just integrate?  The masses will never subscribe to serious software, thus there's no competition, and the athletes would never give up what the others offer but do like a few features that Strava has, thus no real competition.  They're not after the same customer, yet they wont play ball for those in the middle.  And throw a cult egotistical startup like Peloton in the mix and the customer is the one getting the shaft.  Unless they're, say, the masses trying to show everyone they're off the couch, which is what we currently have with no further development in sight.  This is the difference between the software companies and the equipment companies.  All the R&D for the equipment is driven from the investment in the athletes.  The tech companies just want subscribers so they'll get to IPO or get acquired.  They lose sight of the mission which should be to create useful tools for people in a sport no matter what they're trying to achieve.  I'm not even upset with Strava per se.  It's peloton who is forcing me to buy a POS treadmill with a joke of a warranty, a stolen design, & the culty software so my wife is demanding it, without any use for me, whose an AG triathlete trying to constantly push my boundaries on a real training plan and achieve goals I once thought impossible.

Theres my rant.  Now lets all get outside and #beatyesterday

  • Well we have been waiting 3 years for an answer.

    1. How do we get Strava to look at this?

    2. A key reason we want our club to upload from Strava to Garmin is because Garmin lets us do our own competitions or challenges.  Can Strava let us make challenges in Strava so we don't need to port our data into Garmin?

  • I want to bi-directional sync too!  I use WW to track my food intake, but it will only sync with Garmin, so I want to be able to push Strava to Garmin for that purpose....

  • Please consider the feature of sharing into Garmin, I currently have everything sharing to strava but love to see all my strava rides and walks in Garmin connect, won't do it manually as its pointless

  • Please add two way sync with Garmin.

Continuing to ignore this need will result in Strava members abandoning your service for services that integrate.
