Sync from Strava to Garmin Connect

I  can only seem to push from Garmin to Strava. What I want is to use the app to record runs when I have no Garmin device and push to Garmin Connect. Then I can have my data in both platforms. Is that possible?

In my Garmin Connect account settings I see that Strava can only read. Is that correct?

  • I agree with the request for this feature (i.e., a two-way sync).

  • I commute a few miles a day and can't be doing with loosing my rather expensive garmin head unit or the speed/cadence sensor, so i use the Strava app on my phone, but it would be awesome if there was this connection back to Garmin. Not sure I want to add in 4 rides a day into Garmin Connect - I have better things to do like work and ride my bike.

    PLEASE SORT THIS OUT xxx

  • I commute by bicycle and use the Strava app on my phone. My employer uses Cafewell for healthy lifestyles incentives and they only link to Garmin Connect, no Strava integration.

Another suggestion is to work with Cafewell to allow them to access your API.

  • Need this as well.  I export the GPX or TCX and upload to Garmin which then syncs and sends the run back to Strava.  Then I have to delete the second run from Strava.  It would be be nice if the sync went both ways.

  • + 1 I would like to see this. I just bought an Edge 520 for my MTB riding and now realise there's no "good" way to get my jogging into GC.

An alternative would be to allow GC to record direct from the iPhone like Strava itself does.

  • I would really like to see this feature added but I saw a post that said it hasn't been added because not enough people are asking for it.  Is this the right place to ask?  Is someone counting the request in these support feeds?  Are all the "Me Too" posts here counting towards that decision to provide this feature?

As a Board Member of a 30 year old cycling club we find it very difficult to create group challenges.  We always have a club challenge durning the Tour de France (Tour de Lightning Velo for us).  But since we can't create a challenge in Strava, and no one in Strava thinks it would be good to have a Challenge during the TdF we have to do it manually.  Garmin allows us to create this challenge but only the Garmin users can get their data in.  All Strava members are still manual entries.  Please let Strava people create a Garmin account and push their activities to Garmin.  That would be a great work around for Strava not progressing very quickly on Challenges.

For myself I use both and love both platforms.  Only issue is when my Garmin device runs out of power and I switch to my phone on Strava I can't get that part of my ride to show up in both programs.  I don't see Garmin and Strava as competitors.  I see them as a paired failsafe for my data.  And, I pay for both.

  • The part that really grinds me, is that I feel like Garmin is really the only one who really wants to be the solution with both push/pull capabilities.  Strava has a really cool system with the segments & the social aspect, but it's not a real solution to true athletes who use additional systems like Training Peaks to actually get better.  I think there are 2 camps in the software space, those who target the masses who want a GPS track of their 2.8 mile run at 11 min pace and to show their friends they're off the couch, which Strava does a wonderful job of doing, and Training Peaks, who is a real analytics tool for serious athletes trying to be efficient and effective.  The fact that they think there's a battle between them is a joke, so why not just integrate?  The masses will never subscribe to serious software, thus there's no competition, and the athletes would never give up what the others offer but do like a few features that Strava has, thus no real competition.  They're not after the same customer, yet they wont play ball for those in the middle.  And throw a cult egotistical startup like Peloton in the mix and the customer is the one getting the shaft.  Unless they're, say, the masses trying to show everyone they're off the couch, which is what we currently have with no further development in sight.  This is the difference between the software companies and the equipment companies.  All the R&D for the equipment is driven from the investment in the athletes.  The tech companies just want subscribers so they'll get to IPO or get acquired.  They lose sight of the mission which should be to create useful tools for people in a sport no matter what they're trying to achieve.  I'm not even upset with Strava per se.  It's peloton who is forcing me to buy a POS treadmill with a joke of a warranty, a stolen design, & the culty software so my wife is demanding it, without any use for me, whose an AG triathlete trying to constantly push my boundaries on a real training plan and achieve goals I once thought impossible.

Theres my rant.  Now lets all get outside and #beatyesterday
