Sync from Strava to Garmin Connect

I  can only seem to push from Garmin to Strava. What I want is to use the app to record runs when I have no Garmin device and push to Garmin Connect. Then I can have my data in both platforms. Is that possible?

In my Garmin Connect account settings I see that Strava can only read. Is that correct?

  • This is getting ridiculous, and I'm considering ending my premium membership because of the lack of such a basic feature.

  • Strava, are you just going to sit there and ignore your customers requests?

  • Question: For do any other apps automatically send workouts to Garmin Connect? Endomondo, Runkeeper, etc.? If not, is Garmin responsible? Perhaps Garmin wants everyone to use their hardware recording devices (watches, etc.), and so they prevent input to Garmin Connect from other apps that record using non-Garmin equipment, like smartphones.

Does anyone know? (Stava’s support people are clearly not of any use.)

  • Add me to the list as well. Actually I will concider not renewing membership as this is annoying as hell. Tapiriik has stopped working, so if I cant have both I will stick with Garmin.

  • @ JH TrainerRoad does for one, but not Wahoo for example - everyone protects their interests and as mentioned previously want to specifically protect their hardware sales.

  • I have found the same issue with Taprik, it is no longer consistent.  I need for activities in Strava to show in GC

  • Please add me to what seems to be hundreds of users wanting this feature. Is it being looked at now?

  • Strava premium member here. All my devices are garmin so I'll stick with Garmin connect. Now that Tapiriik doesn't work there is little point in continuing with Strava. Will not be renewing the premium membership if this issue cannot be sorted before I'm up for renewal.

  • Zwift now offers Garmin Connect uploads. One less reason to keep Strava.

  • Another ad for Strava premium came up today but why would I upgrade when they won't push my Peloton workouts to Garmin?  Peloton doesn't have any plan to work with Garmin but yet they work with Garmin's HR monitor.  I'm really tired of manually entering my workouts in Garmin because Peloton and Strava won't push.  Tapiriik is still queueing after an hour so that's toast.  Bye bye Strava...no incremental revenue increase from me.

  • Using Zwift I enjoy having Strava to compare segments and see who I was riding with. However Strava can't provide me with a full tracking facility of my days whereas Garmin can.

I'd like to keep Strava for the social and real world planning etc, but have it integrate into Garmin for indoor training.

Use case: Cyclist who uses Garmin to track rides. Occasionally, I run also. Not enough to warrant an expensive Garmin watch, but I still want to track the run and have it show up in Garmin without having to manually export the GPX from Strava and upload into Garmin Connect.

  • +1 I am waiting for this feature as well.

In a meantime I have to use 3rd party app to synchronize Starva activities to Garmin Connect

  • Strava, would you please SUBSTANTIVELY address the concern being discussed by 200+ users in this thread? At least show us the respect of demonstrating to us we haven’t wasted our time attempting to communicate with you. If you can’t make the syncing bidirectional because Garmin won’t cooperate, or if you don’t want to employ such mutuality for business reasons, fine. But talk to us. Right now you appear to be ignoring out feedback. Which is lousy. Our time and efforts should matter to you, especially since you set up this forum and encouraged us to post.

  • Come on Strava....

What number of people is "significant" enough to show interest?  I don't understand why you wouldn't want more people being able to use YOUR app to do their workouts.  It shouldn't matter where else the data is going.

Case example, I want to be able to run as soon as I get out of the train to go home, but I don't want to have to make sure that I have my gps watch with me all the time, or my activity band.  What I do have is my phone, and it would be nice to be able to send that data to my additional platforms without having to get to my computer and exporting everything.

    Thanks

  • Maybe we should pile on, on their social media page. Just added this to their Facebook page:

Hey Strava, do you think we can get intergration with Garmin connect? There is a giant forum on you website asking for it. Will you at least respond to the year old forum?

  • Official response from Strava:

As manager of the community discussions, I'm aware that this topic has been trending throughout 2017. It's a bit more complicated to make this happen and syncing from Strava to Garmin isn't currently on our roadmap. However, the request has been clearly communicated to our product team and everyone will do their best to make this happen when possible. Thanks for reaching out directly, and sorry I can't give you better or more specific news at this time.

  • So from them saying were looking at it and it's on our radar a year ago, to them basically saying now that it's complicated and isn't going to happen now or any time soon.
