Add Swimming Challenges

Hi,

It's possible to add monthly challenge for swimming look like for running and riding ? I think that's a great idea for people who swim a lot...

Thanks for your answer,

Amaury

  • I totally agree too, looking for swimming badges! They could even include some multisport challenges, where you need to run, X miles, bike Y miles and swin Z miles! That would be great!

  • Hello,

I started swimming last month and i think its useful a few strava challenges like we have for cycling and run.

I use strava for a couple years now and the swimming data is very poor.

    Keep the good work

  • Yes, please!

    And:

    1) Why can't my default sport be swimming?

    2) Why no PR when you swim faster or more yards than before?

    3) Why no swim training videos?

Honestly, since switching from running to swimming, I'm not sure why I pay for Strava Premium anymore.

  • Yes! Swimming challenges please! Distance or time spent monthly challenges would be great for those of us in tri training!
Better yet, how about multisport challenges: complete one activity from each sport over a weekend, etc.

  • Here's a copy of the transaction I had when I inquired from the Strava Help Center. Not very encouraging.

ND, I genuinely understand your disappointment. I know in the future we are making strives to not only incorporate more activities, but to provide a platform where they will be comparable to cycling or running. But again simple adjustments like having an athlete identify as a swimmer is frustrating. Again I will be sharing this feedback to not only our engineers, but to our team as well.

I wish you countless success as being a new found swimmer. I honestly admire your determination to stay active. You've truly inspired me by letting me know that the end of running isn't the end for all runners.
Thank you for wishing me to be injury-free during my runs, I am slowly getting back to working on strengthening my kinetic chain and I will no longer neglect my core. Again thank you and I'm sorry. If there is anything else, please let me know.

    Honestly,
    Marvic

    Thanks for the response, Marvic.

I remain, however, completely baffled. Why even bother to make swimming an option if you're not going to support it? Because you have triathlon athletes? (What you really have are frustrated triathlon athletes.) You're basically telling me I should use another app.

Yeah, I don't get it. Seriously, how hard can it be to allow someone to identify themselves as a swimmer on their profile? To acknowledge more distance in a swim than a person has done before? To acknowledge someone's having joined a challenge and completed it? Especially when you already do it for running and cycling... Weird.

Nonetheless, I wish you many years of injury-free running. Mind your core (I should have). I miss it so much, but bilateral pars fractures in my spine won't let me continue. And so it goes.

    Hello ND,

First of all I'm sorry to hear about the accident you suffered. As a runner who is prone to injuries, everyday I'm afraid my stubbornness will eventually aggravate an ongoing injury.
Regarding the lack of support we offer with swimmers, I apologize that we haven't put out a strong emphasis on that activity. Besides tracking your swims, that's all we offer as of now unfortunately.
As far as future projects that we have lined up for our swimmers, there are going to be minor upgrades but nothing to the caliber of what our riders and runners are experiencing.
Again I truly sorry apologize for the inconvenience.

    Best,
    Marvic

Hey, not long ago I was forced to switch from running to swimming due to an injury. I was excited to come back to using Strava to track a new sport, but to be honest, I've been underwhelmed.

Oddly, I can't even identify myself as a swimmer in my Strava profile (only runner or cyclist). Nor can I achieve/chart PRs when it comes to swimming distance or speed. Coaching videos? Nope. Other than the most basic tracking, I don't really see where Strava is making a case for itself with regard to swimmers. The sport feels neglected, and now I feel neglected.

Just thought I'd give you a chance to respond in case I'm missing something. Maybe you're planning a massive revamp, or at least to address all of my concerns? As it is, I'm not planning on reupping my Premium membership unless you make some changes. Some of this stuff is pretty basic, so I'm kinda baffled.

  • Up for all swimmers, challenge distance by month, swim 3miles in a row and other nice challange... should not be hard to add already exist for runners and bike.

Can you add some challenge to motivate swimmers to keep using strava and be part of the best community ;)

  • Strava really needs to get in touch with the whole SwimRun community also - it's the next big sport sweeping the nation.
