  • Also, +1 on what David Irwin said. I'd like to merge in my heart-rate data which is recorded on a separate device.

  • +1 wow this has been suggested a while and no action from Strava?  What's the deal?  I paused my workout last night at the halfway point and accidentally must have touched the "finished" button, so I had to save or discard then start over, another good reason to have this feature.

  • 5 different rides today because Strava kept randomly not recording! Should have been my longest ride so far, instead I have a bunch of tiny rides. :( This is a no brainer STRAVVVVVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

  • Or on restarting strava following a shutdown add a 3rd option - save, discard or continue. (with a requirement to be within 1mile and 1hr) it's very frustrating when going for long single ride goals when the phone crashes or runs out of power

  • I like the 1km/1mile idea, would not put a time to it though, sometimes the coffee is just to good at the stop and you need a second cup.

  • Agreed. Lost the coolest segment on Tinnsjorunden because my phone died. It's an epic. Phones die.

  • Yes! Add this feature! Strava App always fall down many times per ride and produce a lot of activities needed to be merged!

  • Yes,,,, Strava seems to be dropping out (GPS) more than ever lately . Surely if Strava have the function in the app to upload photos etc , then should have a function to stitch 2 or more parts of one ride together to one completer ride . COME ON !

  • This option would be very usefull. I joined 2 activities into 1 using the download GPX - JOIN - UPLOAD method. Almost everything was ok, except that I lost the original altimetry (barometric) data. When uploading the GPX, there isn´t an option to tell that the elevation was obtained with a barometric device.

  • Because Strava stopped a few times, my heroic achievement today will not be recognized by all my followers (1). What a pity that such a historic event is shattered into 5 activities. Please make it possible to combine them!

Was riding the 130km challenge in September, then the App crashed at km 114!!!

    What a shame...:-(

  • A "continue" option on the unsaved activity dialog would be great

  • Please add this - on audax rides I have run out of Garmin battery and finish the ride on an iPhone - there are ways to do it out there but so much work compared to what should be a simple coding addition.  Thanks!

  • Hi Strava riders . after lots of trial and error and frustration with text editors etc , I found this easy way of merging rides together after losing satellite reception or experience of a flat battery half way through a ride or run .

So I've put up a video . Hope this helps !

  • Sorry, Peter, but the method in your video is still only stitching together GPX files, resulting in data loss and inaccuracy.

Most notably lost are: power data, comments, kudos, notes.

    Most notably corrupted is: elevation.

None of the above is acceptable.

  • Hi Josh , thanks for your  constructive feedback.  The original 2 rides  and the stitched / merged rides rides are still on my Strava , I didn't have to delete the originals. There were never any comments or kudos on these rides , so I don't know about that , but I have compared the two original rides with the merged ride, and  the distance, elevation , % grade,  elapsed time, moving time, segments are all still there . The only (slight) difference that I can see is the elapsed and the moving times, but this may be because I cropped the beginning and the end of the rides for privacy reason and  a  stop half way for a nice coffee !

I am no computer guru,,, but I'm happy with this , and I'm sure someone will come up with something  much better .

    Cheers Josh and  happy riding

  • Would be appreciated...now have a monster 80 mile single day mtn bike ride of the white rim trail in Canyonlands Nat'l Park due to bad Garmin battery (saved that ride as part 1) and Strava app as part 2, would like to see the data for the whole ride in one file.....
