Year-to-Date Club Leaderboard

Clubs show leaderboards for this week and last week.  A year to date leaderboard would be good.

  • Not really - I imagine all developers are working on the next step forward: MEP. Make Everyone Pay.

  • come on strava,  nearly 10 month are already gone again after your last statement in february and the year is still coming to the end. Make this feature possible finally. The community here ask for that since years.

  • Hello Strava, come on. Where is the support for us persevering pursuers?

  • Hi,

For those interested, some news of my leaderboard app (https://yearlyva.herokuapp.com/) :

You can now choose between bicycle or running leaderboard (with distance or elevation option) or sum of both by moving time.

    Regards,

    Pascal

  • ChaseTheLadder is going from strength to strength regarding leaderboards. We still have our rolling 4 week leaderboards as well as new additions: a current month leaderboard and a year to date leaderboard. Currently we cover running, cycling, virtual cycling (Zwift etc.), cycling (real and virtual together), swimming and rowing. Take a look at https://www.chasetheladder.com

  • Any progress on a yearly and YTD club leader board?   Our club is moving away from manually tracking riders and putting on a big push to get everyone on Strava.  I think we've had 100 members sign up in 2018.  But without yearly data we can't use this to recognize the leaders at out annual meeting!  Really makes Strava pretty useless for organized clubs.

  • Don’t hold your breath Jim. The original post was back in 2013. Strava said they were going to introduce it several times. They lied! They still took our money but lied through their teeth. The original poster has likely retired from cycling, may even not be with us any more, having never seen his simple request come to fruition! A few still cling to hope, but I fear they are just deluded.

  • Perhaps chasetheladder is a good option to use!? It works with Strava and gives back what you want (and more) I think.

Gives Strava a couple of years to think about a solution.

  • Jim - ChaseTheLadder is doing this today. Take a look at https://www.chasetheladder.com  It's free, and the idea behind it in the first place is because info like this wasn't being provided by Strava so we rolled our own.

  • That is one of the reasons I downgraded Premium to just 1 of the 3 packages.  Just holding on for old times' sake. I really really miss Google maps - the most useful option of all for a MTB rider. The lousy replacement doesn't show anything but intense contours and dark landscape. Pitiful.

  • Still breathing.
Jim. There is an option somewhere in this thread that works well - if everyone you want to include signs up to it.
Similarly if everyone forks out for Veloviewer (worth it I think) and then approves whatever the necessary permissions are then there is probably some way of doing it on there.

  • Thanks Ed and Andrew, I will check out chasetheladder, I signed up.  Problem is each user has to individually join.  Knowing our club that's just not going to happen with most of our members.

  • You can do this in Garmin Connect by creating a challenge.

  • Another vote for year-to-date club stats. Would be awesome to actually define a time range for club comps.

  • Out of interest, are there platforms similar to Strava that anyone knows of that show monthly and annual leaderboards? For multiple users that is (clubs)

  • Strava is Swedish for “strive,” which epitomises our attitude and ambition: We're a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to build the most engaged community of athletes in the world. Every day, we're searching for new ways to inspire athletes and make the sports they love even morefun.

    Come on Strava -

please add this feature to engage / inspire  more Athletes - Is is part of your ethos - athletes are jumping on 3rd parties 'segment challenge / chase the ladder'    in frustration  ........  Many thanks

  • Haven't seen a Strava person update us on this for some time now, can we have an update please?

  • Let's face it - it's never going to happen. Strava may promise it again and again, but we'll first have 3 different types of likes/dislikes, perhaps polls, dark background and all other facebook-like stuff. What so social about comparing to my club mates anyway ... some may feel depressed for not riding/running so many miles as others, so better give them new emoji to make everybody happy. You can post without any activity already, so why don't cancel the option of uploading your ride at all - it'll for sure be more social, not forcing people to actually ride a bike, this can only bring more users.

  • How do we even know when a new week begins? Is it based on the club owner's timezone?  I was going to have a contest for weekly results but don't even know the parameters on when a new week begins.  We have members across the globe.

  • Strava already handles weeks to most peoples satisfaction/acceptance and for weekly mileage/climbing the "Strava Club" feature already does all? you need. The year-to-date feature (which is the subject of this thread) however has been on Strava's to-do list for about 10 years if you read this chain and no sign of it arriving, not even a comment from Strava peeps actually!

  • Strava does not handle weeks properly.  People on the West coast could be doing activities for their week while those is OZ are already in the next week so there can't be a person-to-person comparison for standings.

For yearly stats again - the West coast is wrapping up the year and looking at stats and surprise - those in OZ have 0 feet for the current year (next year in the USA).

The Strava club feature has faults too. If the club is a triathlon club Strava tracks Hours but drops Elevation as a leaderboard statistic.

  • As a club admin, it is a pain to compile these manually when this could be done so easily by Strava. Please add this.

  • Hey Mike D (not of the Beastie Boys?) say farewell to club admin pain by getting your club members to sign up to the tool linked to in Luc P's post of 10 October 2017 earlier in the thread. Works brilliantly.

  • I wish I were that Mike D, but no. I took a look at the suggested solution a year or two ago but didn't think it'd meet my requirements (can't remember why now). I also looked at building my own solution but ended up with manual updates to a spreadsheet.

  • Hello Mike D.

I'm the one that developed the tool linked by Luc. If you have some requirements not met, I can take a look and see if I can integrate them (mainly see if it's possible with datas available on strava's API).

The tool is not here : https://www.taloti.com with it's  domain name and better availability : site is always up now.

    Regards,

    Pascal
