Weighted Average Power for Laps and Segments

It would be really neat if you could also calculated Weighted Average Power for laps, segments and selected portions of rides.

  • I agree. Absolutely necessary.

I just upgraded to premium and I am very disappointed to see that you cannot view normalized power for laps or even segments. As somebody who races and uses lapped intervals in training normalized power data is very important, not just average power. I cannot believe this feature isn't available. When will this issue be addressed?

Also on the laps can you not do a lap analysis like you can segment analysis.

  • Agreed; this is very important to me as a powermeter user. Normalized/weighted power is far more important to me than average power.

I find that better lap/segment/selection analysis in general would be good. I'd like to be able to select an arbitrary part of the ride and see my aggregate stats for that selection, ideally.

  • True! WAP or NP should be shown for laps and segments. Especially there are laps/segments with downhills in it, it would be very usefull having WAP!

  • Extremely important for interval training. Need to know my variability on an interval to determine quality, can only get that if I know both my avg power and NP (wap).

  • I am surprised there is no Normalized power.  Average power not that useful except for steady efforts on flat terrain.

  • Would be very useful for 40km type TT efforts with a lot of rolling terrain which knocks down the avg. watts to a deceptively low number.

  • agree with the above comments it would be great if we could see normalized power and variability index for the entire ride and lap segments, it would assist a lot in pacing.

At the moment I am using Training Peaks and Strava to record my data, the only reason I use Training peaks is to check the variability index, if you could address this it would be great, at some stage I will have to make a decision on which premium service I subscribe too and Strava is great, but I need to be monitoring this data

  • I've just bought a Quarq power meter and have just realised that Strava doesn't show NP.  Come on Strava.  We love most of the stuff you do.  At the moment it's the only thing that Garmin Connect (which I hate) does better than you.  Please please please add it asap.  And how about an update or a response to this forum?  Otherwise it just looks like we're sending messages in a bottle!!

  • Yes Please, agree with the above, Average power is useless, would like to see Norm power for the whole ride to as opposed to Average Power.

  • I concurr to most of what is said above  !

  • +1!!!  Epic fail that you don't provide NP as well. Average power is useless!

It seems that I still need to use training peaks to record my rides.

  • Definitely agree with all comments so far and will not be going premium until this gets addressed.

  • Yes, need normalized power for segments.

  • Would love to see Strava pull the power data that seems to be available on GConnect, and which shows up on TPeaks and others:  Particularly, variability index and normalized power.   Agree with all the 19 commenters above that if Strava is positioned for the cyclist focusing on training, it's nPower and VI that we're interested in.   Also useful on segments and laps, because we "hit the button" for 20 minutes and those metrics are our goals..

  • please.... this is essential when you do intervals. Have it on premium only if you want, but put it in there. thanks

  • This request is almost 3 years old and I don't see one response yet from anyone at Strava!  I guess no one is listening which is a pity considering how much I pay for the Premium version.

  • This is why I don't pay for it anymore; so many basic features missing that it's not useful as a training tool.

  • It's quite ridiculous trhat this isn't available.

STRAVA - PLEASE ADDRESS THIS OR AT LEAST RESPOND!

  • This would be useful.  Garmin has it.  At least should have NP for your laps.

  • Dear Strava. Please address this!

NP (Weighted AP) per lap/segment is one of the most relevant stats.

  • Come on Strava - this issue is three years old. Surely it can't be that difficult to include?

  • Definitely need this feature. I'd pay for premium if this were available. Without it I need to use training peaks and I'm not willing to pay for both.

  • Another bump I guess. This seems like it would be easy to include and it is super important.
