Custom Unit Preferences (Miles, Kg, Celsius)

I'd like more control over what units are used in the app.  Specifically, I'd like miles, kilograms and degrees Celsius.  Miles is the most important to me so at the moment I'm stuck with other units which mean nothing to me (pounds and Fahrenheit).

Can we just get fields in the settings area for each unit of measurement please?

  • I'm an 80's uk child. I need miles and Celsius :) I only use km for strava challenges and i convert in my head for that.
  • Yes please add custom fields for metric & Garmin statue just until the UK can work what measurement system they are going to use :-)

  • Just upgraded to premium and can't believe this isn't already available so may have to reconsider. I had expected Strava to be pretty much the most advanced bike tracking site but in a lot of ways it's quite primitive.

  • Our Club has regular meetings in which we "showcase" rider's activities...  Based in the USA it would be great if we could filter, for example, the Challenge Results by either Km or Miles, meters or feet, etc...

  • Yes please to changing it to what we individually want (miles, kms, C or F). F Means nothing to me other than head scratching

  • Yes Please, a Temperature in Fahrenheit, means absolutely nothing to me.

  • Still going, still no response. Think STRAVA should read this article from Friday's Times which delves into the mysteries of using measurement units in the UK

    I'd like to see Bushels, and perhaps chains as possible measurement units for Strava

    distance = miles

    elevation = metres

    weight =kg

    or simply a dropdown box for each measurement in the settings

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we have the option to have temperature in degC? Without having to change everything else into metric.

    Looking at my friends ride, they did 16.9miles, and the temperature outside was 88F which means absolutely and completely NOTHING to me :(

  • Canadian here, can confirm that we're a mishmash too. I don't have a mobile device, though. Can we get this on the website too?

    The Garmin 225 is quite nice in this regard: you can choose different units for weight, height, distance, elevation, and pace.

  • This was suggested in 2013. How long does it take to add a drop down box? 0_o

  • I know you may have to allocate some time/resources to implement this but really, how hard is it to change one drop down menu into three?

  • It would be great to be able to set default units per activity type and to toggle the units on an individual activity. If this were available I'd "Go Premium"...

  • +1

  • I want the option for C

    This means nothing to me...

    Temperature 61

  • I'm sure i've put my name in here already but Please give us this option - I'm int he UK - we don't use degrees F - would be like using C or the Kelvin scale  !

  • +1 for individual unit selection (miles, lbs, ft and °C here)

  • Temperature in Centigrade

    Distance in Miles

    Elevation in Feet

    Weight in Stones or kilograms

  • Just like to add to the strangeness that is UK units of measure.  For us triathletes that use Strava, we tend to record runs and cycles in Miles but the majority of swimming pools in the UK are 25 or 50 metre pools so swims distance (at least indoors) needs to be in metres to be meaningful. I would therefore prefer that ALL units were customisable for ALL activities.  Elevation seems to split people.  I prefer to use ft but a lot of people prefer metres!

  • No update from Strava since Jan on this? How hard can this be to implement?

  • +1 for individual unit selection (miles, lbs, ft and °C here) please

  • If someone has the time, this could be done with a chrome extensions or a bit of fancy JavaScript loaded from a favourite button. This site used to have some fancy favroute buttons to change google maps to street maps (before strava did it) but cmon strava it is a little lame that we don't have this option.

  • +1 for custom units. Must have C!!

  • Temp in Celcius please

  • Temp in Celsius/Centigrade please. I like miles and kg.

  • 2 years! is there any point in this Suggest a new feature forum?

  • I commented on 1st April 2014! A waste of 5 minutes of my life!
  • I'm not what you'd call a Strava power user but have been premium for the last few months. I have just cancelled premium and citied this thread as a reason. I'm not really interested in heatmaps and all the other crud that they seem to put their effort into and if they can't be bothered to address basic usability features then I'm not interested in giving them my money. I would suggest if other people did the same then perhaps they might take a bit more notice?

    As an aside, my account says I've been premium since 4/6/15, but this is not in fact the 4th of June as I would read it but the 6th of April. So they can't even display the date in the format of the country that I live in, or give me the option to change it. I'm definitely not feeling valued as a customer.

  • Strava are not improving simple things like this, whilst all the other companies are and are slowly catching up. May not be long before we all start using alternative Gps apps.
  • Dear Strava,
    Of ALL the countries in the world, only the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Palau and the United States use Fahrenheit. Go do some basic maths and you will see the bulk of your userbase is outside of those countries, so either implement this quick and easy fix, or watch as your users slowly start migrating to other services.
    I certainly won't even consider paying for Strava if it cannot offer me such basic functionality as allowing me to choose my own units. Look through this thread - obviously I'm not alone in feeling this way.

    What will it take for you to implement this?

    PS: You DO realise other competing services exist, and have started offering the equivalent of of segments, don't you?
