Attach a Route (map) when entering a 'Manual Entry'

It is really frustrating when a device destroys your data!!! In my case an 18 hour ride and nothing to show for it.

What do we do .. only solution at the moment is to add a Manual Entry.

Currently there is no image of the route taken when adding a 'Manual Entry'.

If we could import a route (gpx or  select one of 'My Routes') it would greatly enhance the entry.

Note: no time data would be available from the file ... that is expected.

  • Do any Android users have a paid account?  Perhaps it is unlocked with membership?

  • Uninstalling Strava until it has this. The manual mapping mode also isn't up to par.

  • So this has been requested for years. Seems simple enough and gets over Strava fails.

    When will this be added??

  • Strava users have been asking for this feature for years but they don't give a damn.  If they added it to the paid members features they might actually get more to subscribe but until they do I wont be paying anything.

  • This function would make strava just that much better. Endomondo can do it and I think about dropping strava frequently because of the lack of ability to attach a saved route to a manually added activity. Some adventure races are strict with not allowing smart watches and tracking devices, often we are racing remotely where phone battery is best saved for emergency only and turned off as required by race organisers. Would be nice to get home and be able to create the route we raced using the topo maps distributed for navigation and add the activity later.

  • So, They do it in Android 2 years ago then nothing. I'm a paid member and this sort of response is crap.

  • This is very frustrating! Why did you remove the Manual Entry - Add Route feature for Android??

Unless I'm shooting for a new PR, I don't really need to record my commutes because it is almost always the same speed on the same route.

Do Premium users lose this function? Why did I buy a full year.

    Horse shit.

  • Is this feature updated on IOS or web yet?  Seems like an easy add that would help a lot of people with the app.  If not maybe i need to switch back to MapMyRide.

  • I'm sure I used to be able to do this but can't find it any more.

Can we have an update from Strava please?

  • This feature has been requested for years but Strava have some strange reason for not adding it.  No body at Strava ever says why nor promises an update in the future.  You used to be able to do it in Android but I see that has now been removed as well so there is no way at all unless you have programming skills and a lot of time.   It cant be difficult to add it and if they did for paid members I would become one. Do you think Strava ever read these comments and requests?

  • Strava must not read the posts since issue remains unsolved for years.. now faced w same crisis .. map my ride is fool proof and strava is as innovative and supportive as cement boots

  • I swear at one point strava had a way to add routes to a manual entry. I had used it for when I forgot to resume my activity from pausing to run to the bathroom inside gas stations. I would then manual entry and use the route or at least I thought..... Somehow I had entered the same route as manual activity without problem! Now its problems.

  • Yeah, still unresolved since 2014 maybe, opened by various topics which all closed now.

They can ignore us from their monopoly. Time will bring a competition I hope.

  • Downgrade to version 75.0 (Android) or earlier to get the feature back! So stupid of them to remove such essential thing, why on Earth would we use the route without it?

  • I forgot my phone today....

    Same regular route....

I followed the instructions on Mutchi Stemmer's post below and it worked perfectly.....

Thank you so very much Mutchi.

  • Endomondo can do this, so you can draw the route there, add workout and export the workout as gpx. However, if you do it often, then it would be easier to import the history into endomondo and use it going forward 😂

  • The capacity to add a route to a manual upload used to be available on Android -- I've done it several times in the past. But now it seems to have been removed? Is this actually the case, or has it just been hidden during a redesign of the interface?

  • Please add this feature! I'm happy to provide early feedback. Could be a good candidate for your next hackathon?

  • Hey Strava using friends. I had to re-figure out how to manually add/post a route today. I did a hike but pressed pause immediately and didnt realize it until the end. But I wanted it to be in my history! If you're interested the steps are:

1: go to STRAVA on a desktop device and go to DASHBOARD>MY ROUTES
    (https://www.strava.com/athlete/routes)

2: Create your route by adding dots along the map.
    3: Save it.
4:Download it as a GPX file.

5: Add speed and time stamps to the file by uploading it here: https://gotoes.org/strava/Add_Timestamps_To_GPX.php

6: Download it again with the new data

7: Upload it to your account here: https://www.strava.com/upload/select

    Hope this helps

  • Thank you Angie December 30, 2019 19:01 - this solution works very well. I, like thousands of others have gone out with a GPS device that has run out of juice during a run/ride and have lost part or all of an activity. I really can't understand why Strava have not implemented this feature since others have clearly been able to do it.
