Sync Nike+ to Strava

Hi,

I've started using Strava to track my cycling and like the app.  I have however already got a long history of running with Nike+ GPS devices and am happy with what I have.  I understand that Nike now offer the ability to integrate with their service through the developer.nike.com, is this something you could consider and a new feature.  It would be nice to see my training data in one place without the need to buy a new GPS watch (i.e. a garmin).

Thanks

To avoid confusion, I'd like to move this discussion to the article on How to sync or transfer from Nike+ to Strava

    Thanks!

  • Smashrun has this feature.  A little disappointed that Strava does not.

  • Thanks Andrew! This is something we're looking into.

In the meantime, a few workarounds exist, that you may already know of: You can export data as GPX from Nike+ activities, and you can also check out these two online tools built by 3rd parties:

    https://nikeplusexporter.rhysmccaig.com/

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • The only thing keeping me from jumping into Strava completely is my Nike+ history.  I've got thousands of miles of history logged and need to be able to easily transfer the nearly 800 runs before I'm willing to take the plunge.

  •  I've just pull the website that nike have put up the address is http://developer.nike.com.  This is a formal way to pull their data but i don't know what the details are for how sites can use it.  I'd personally only really be interested in keeping my latest data synced as i'm now getting into Triathlons and want all that data in one place.

I see now that the 220 Triathlon website offers Nike plus integration as well as having their own app.  Thanks for the information above but I haven't the time to download and upload loads of data.  Hopefully you can do something at Strava.

  • Great feedback Ava and Andrew - we are aware of the Nike developer tools, but a course of action has not been decided on. Thanks!

  • +1 on this please.  Just discovered Strava as I recently purchased a road bike.  I'm loving cycling and Strava!  However I currently use Nike Plus for running and I have over 300 runs logged.  I would like to switch to Strava for running as well, but there would need to be an automated way (even if it's one time only) to import all my historical data.

  • Hey Elle,
Neither of those recommended sites are working and now I haven't been able to upload my Nike+ runs to STRAVA for 3 days. I was 1st place on the leader board for Canada and now have lost my position because my runs can't be uploaded. Any suggestions?

  • I was sold on the Nike+ GPS watch because it supposedly was able to be "synced" with Strava, is this available yet?

  • Check out http://node-nike-to-strava.jit.su/ for a tool which will sync your most recent run from Nike+ to Strava. At the moment it adds activities to Strava as a run, raise an issue at https://github.com/bengummer/node-nike-to-strava if you need this fixed.

  • Thanks Ben for that, but would still need to would like all my runs as I also have a massive Nike plus data base.

  • Hi Katy, a few people have asked for the same thing so I'm working on adding Nike+ support to Tapiriik so you'll be able to sync from Nike to Strava in bulk. Cheers.

  • Hi Ben, that would be fantastic. I am already a Tapiriik subscriber and moved away for a short while only because of the lack of Nike+ support. After your  http://node-nike-to-strava.jit.su/ post I returned and will remain as long as Nike is supported (along with many others I would guess).

  • All,

I just finished adding a new feature to my exporter - it allows you to upload runs directly from Nike+ to Strava and RunKeeper without having to export GPX files.

You can test it here: https://mattstuehler.com/lab/NikePlus/new.html

If you're able to try it out - I'd really appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!

I also rebuilt the export-to-GPX function to use the Nike+ API, so hopefully that will be more reliable.

  • Hi Matt,

Just gave it a try and noticed that the time is off but a few hours. I used you old exporter and it showed the correct timestamp on the file but wouldn't allow me to export files as they where treadmill runs without GPS data. Thanks for great work so far, hope my comments may help.

  • Craig,

Thanks for trying it out, and for your note. Quick questions re: the time being off...

    1. What is the correct time, and what time was displayed in Strava?

    2. What timezone are you in?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Matt,

    1. The export reports 1:16PM and old exporter reports 6:16pm which is the same as Nike+

    2. I am Cape Town, South Africa which is +2.00

Feel free to drop me an email on craig@digicape.co.za if you would like to communicate directly.

  • Nike+ would be a huge move for Strava.  So many people are frustrated by the nike site.  Please do consider it!  I love strava!

  • I imported my nike+ runs with the mattstuehler website, but the strange thing was that the overall time of the run wasn't correct on strava. i deleted my runs and the tried importing them from garmin with Tapiriik but that only import like 4 runs, even I ran a total of 300 runs.

What can i do to get my nike+ runs on to strava?

    Thanks

  • I'm looking for a way to get heart rate data from my Nike + GPS into Strava to analyze.  I don't want to have to rely on GPS signal in order to export the data into Strava.  Right now https://mattstuehler.com/lab/NikePlus/ is  the only solution for me and I worry about not getting satellite signal.  Help Strava... or anyone!

  • Hey Guys,

Im the creator of the tool at https://nikeplusexporter.rhysmccaig.com. If you need to download runs without GPS data (eg, from a treadmill, or your device didnt pick up a GPS signal), my tool will allow you to export a TCX file which should be uploadable to strava. Let me know if you have any issues.

Also - Matt S, great job on the direct upload to Strava, awesome feature man!

  • Rhys I tried using your tool but the runs I had with HR and without GPS didn't show up on your tool.  Am I doing something wrong?

  • Hey Ann,

Do those runs have distance data with them (either from a footpad or a treadmill?). If there is no data about the distance it may fail to export. This is a good future feature enhancement :)

  • Hi Rhys,

Nope they don't have the shoe pod or distance data.  And it would be a good future enhancement!!!
