Sync Nike+ to Strava

Hi,

I've started using Strava to track my cycling and like the app.  I have however already got a long history of running with Nike+ GPS devices and am happy with what I have.  I understand that Nike now offer the ability to integrate with their service through the developer.nike.com, is this something you could consider and a new feature.  It would be nice to see my training data in one place without the need to buy a new GPS watch (i.e. a garmin).

Thanks

  • @Alannah Rogers, that's odd. Does it always happen? Maybe we could do a quick call so I can investigate with you?

You can send me an email from the website, and we'll see this through! :)

  • @Alannah Rogers, good news! Figured out why you were having an error on a perfectly fine run (I assume 😉). The code was only able to process activities that add GPS data linked to them, so it caused an error when trying to export what would have been in Strava a manual entry.

I decided to alter the code a little bit, and it will now create a manual entry for you when no GPS data is available! Aptly named "Running without GPS" (open to suggestions on that, was not feeling inspired), these runs will only have basic info though: that is distance and elapsed time.

Hope that helps, be sure to check out nike.vinz.xyz!

  • Vincent G. I tried to sync a few runs and the time/ duration of the run is significantly different than the Nike + data causing the pace to be way different.  Any ideas?

  • @Vincent G - I used you tool today to import 8 runs into strava. The maps seemed to pull through ok, and the distances weren't too far off. The times however were off a fair bit - I'm new to running so it's made my pace a lot faster then it actually is! I'm in Aus, so could it be something to do with kms vs miles? Would really appreciate any help/insight you could provide!

  • @Seth, @Natasha, I am aware of those bugs and am working to solve them. The issue has to do with how I manage runs that at some point lose GPS signal, or generally where there is a discrepancy in the sampling of those data. Time is scarce for me right now to try and code a workaround, but I'll let you guys know first thing when the transfers are more reliable.

Thanks for using the tool, will see to push that fix asap!

  • Hi all,

I am new to Strava, and I am trying to import data from my Nike+ watch. I've tried both Jeremy's and Vincent's websites (Thanks for taking the time to do this!), but I've been blocked with both. It says I have the wrong credentials, but I am 100% sure that I've given my correct password. Has anybody run into this issue?

    Thanks!

  • Elizabeth - I have found Vince's site works well. I do recall having some sign in trouble with Nike+ though. I recall their stringent password requirements meant I had to modify my usual password. Which I then forgot of course. And then relied on facebook signin. Until I couldn't... at which point I was mystified at why my usual password didn't work 😊 Possible parallel? I'd be looking at resetting your Nike+ signin esp if you're having trouble with both other sites.

  • I have tried both Vincent and Jeremy's websites and the pacing is out considerably for both.

The problem seems to be with Strava's use of both elapsed time and moving time. When I was using Nike+ to track my runs I had the auto pause turned on. The total time it gives for each run is therefore only the 'moving' time. It does not give a total elapsed time.

When the runs are imported to Strava it thinks this time is elapsed time and adds a shorter time for the moving time. So all my paces are faster than they should be.

I don't know if there is any way around this?

  • Anyone know of the opposite? I use Nike for the NTC app programs, and I'd love to auto sync my runs I post via Strava (via Fitbit connection mwaha) automatically to my Nike account so the training program can take into account my runs as well.

  • Hi Everyone!

I am trying to sync Vincent G but I am having the same issue that Elizabeth R. had.

Unfortunately, changing my password in Nike+ as Tim suggested is not working at all for me and I keep facing the credentials error :(

    Any ideas guys?

    Thanks in advance!
