Manually add Distance for an Indoor/Stationary Activity

When uploading indoor activities like indoor cycling or treadmill, no distance appears. Only HR. Would be useful to activate a field in wich we can type in the distance

  • Thanks for all your feedback! We're listening.

We have a lineup of features and product improvements we're currently working hard on, and it's not yet clear when we'll be able to consider this feature enhancement. Please keep adding your votes!

  • It is so simple! Just add possibility to edit uploaded workout.

This isn't difficult to do, I am on Garmin already but I joined Strava as my friends were on it to keep track with what they were doing, then I thought I would join a challenge, but on a work trip where I forgot my GPS I ran 20k and didn't get it added onto my challenge totals, so what is the point of having it if you can't add manual distance to the challenge, granted some people may cheat but they are only cheating themselves if they do....please add this, as I say, its not difficult!

  • anyone could cheat anyway---easy to "run" four minute miles on a bike :)---so why not make it completely editable?

  • adding this ability requires a an entire team of electro-physio-astro-engineers. please everyone calm down and let's give strava another year to figure this out. in time they will remove their head from the glue bag and recruit some of the very high level astro-space computer programmers from dailymile, or garmin connect or training peaks to help them implement this functionally.

  • You must be joking.  If this were a customer priority -- which it clearly is -- any customer-friendly operation would get this done in days.  The timing couldn't be better -- at the start of winter and the indoor training season.  Come on Strava -- show us what a nimble, responsive, competitive, feature-filled organization you are!

  • Me too.  Not only do I like to see total mileage that includes my treadmill runs I have had my GPS lose signal or the batteries die so recording only half a run.   Very frustrating and rendering Strava a bit pointless.

  • I found a great workaround: Run outdoors! (and yes, I live in Canada and run often in -30c).

  • Strava is about as useful as logging your stuff in notepad these days,  no longer can I enter seconds for my treadmill runs when using the manual upload workaround.

  • +1 ... anxiously waiting for this feature too!

  • Ditto, how hard can it be to code this!  No one wants to upload a manual entry to log miles, and double the activity/time if you're tracking HR!!!!

Garmin site staring to look more appealing for indoor rides/runs!

  • Hey strava thanks for listening to your customer base and adding this much requested feature. Oh, wait, I forgot. You instead ignore this very simple request. Your customer support is a band of dysfunctional cretins living under a bridge. I'm happy to support your competition including Garmin Connect, Training Peaks and Daily Mile.

  • Turbo / Roller mileage shouldn't be included in achievement / club mileage tables. Getting out and doing the miles isn't the same as watching TV on a turbo. HTFU and get outside.

  • No one is saying the mileage on treadmills and/or roller/stationary bikes should be included on achievement tables or segment results!   The point is to be able to measure how far you've run or ridden regardless of whether or not you're stationary.   One could argue that riding indoors is often times more difficult due to no coasting, should we eliminate miles ridden outside but downhill with zero cadence?

  • +1 Would also be great if we can edit/override distance for TomTom MultiSport. The only option I have on this device is a Freestyle Workout which attempts to use GPS for distance tracking.  This gets uploaded to Strava and is not reflective of my workout for indoor cycling.

  • it could be in a training segment as that it is how it is. to help to cycle stronger when the weather or time permits. would be a good feature. thanks

  • Ditto to all these requests!  This is MUCH NEEDED.  I may have to just go back to Garmin Connect and use their interface, as they will allow this type of manual edits (distance, HR).

    Thanks!

  • And still no response from Strava?! This request began A YEAR AGO? For now I will continue to use the competition (Garmin Connect, Training Peaks, Daily Mile, etc.) and not pay for the use of Strava. I hope we will see this change implemented in 2015 but I won't hold my breath. Strava apparently doesn't listen to it's user base. Or maybe there's a companion thread that requests that this functionality isn't implemented?

  • As of today I've canceled my Strava premium subscription (on PayPal). During winter I do 95% of my runs on the treadmill; and the lack of response on this issue tels me that I'm not a "priority customer" for Strava... :-(

  • Agreed - Strava is pretty useless without this ability. Would seem to be pretty straightforward to allow manually edits of data.

  • What is this, some sort of integrity check?  I could manually enter whatever the hell I want and it will be added to my mileage totals, but I can't manually edit the distance for a freaking treadmill run with HR data??? BS!!!
