Splits and Interval training with Cycling Audio Announcements

Hey Guys I love the app and UI but it would great if you could at voice coached interval training similar to what runkeeper has.. even if it is a paid add on.  I prefer Strava to Runkeeper but for intervals i have to turn to Runkeeper. I would rather have only one app to deal with.

  • Well ... Even if Strava hear our request ... That company replied simply: "However, being a small company, we have other projects we've prioritized at this time and we simply can not fulfill all the feature requests in our community "
Nothing will change. This company has some sort of plan. And they are moving according to the plan. Opinions and users rarely take into account the request of the company. It is perfectly visible through the branches to users offers.
It is very sad that people can not influence the development of new functions. Very sad.

  • The request by the Cycling community for Voice Prompt is simply asking for a feature that Strava has ALREADY programed. There is a big difference between a Small Company and a Stupid Company.

Why Voice Prompts with selectable frequency are there for a Run and Not for a Bike ride is proof.

A Segment will announce half way your Time/Distance/Pace while biking. So the basic voice function exist within the bike mode also.

The hard part of the programing is already done.

I've had Strava tell me to just use the RUN mode for a bike ride. Yet, Strava being a community/social app where your inspired by others to run faster, bike faster.  That "solution" will poison the Run Routes/Segments with times only a biker could perform.

More proof those in Strava are not thinking or listening.

  • this thread has been up here now since Jan.2014. My complaint about the lack of this feature is from earlier last year, to date the only updates i have received was from fellow disappointed users. No word from strava. In that case, they might just shut down the 'community' since it seems to be more of a community of disgruntled users or by now former users. Most of my serious riding friends have moved over to garmin and their platform, so good bye strava.

A community is usually a forum build for users and developers of the actual company to exchange questions, suggestions and information from your user base. Clearly this is not happening here.

  • I am coming from Runkeeper.  Love the voice coaching.  I cannot believe Strava did not have it. It is deal breaker for me.  I am going back to Runkeeper.

  • Huge feature, mystery why it doesn't exist already. It's not as if it's new technology.

  • But Strava Does have that feature.  IF YOUR RUNNING.

They took a survey and concluded incermental voice feedback was NOT a feature somebody would use riding a Bike.

They really have the true pulse of the biking community's desires.

  • I am a runner requesting custom intervals, at the minimum to match the new training programs offered. Stravas training programs prescribe what day to run and what length:intensity intervals to run that day, however there is ZERO integration of these plans with the workout record. So now I need another app to signal my intervals suggested by the Strava training program? How inelegant! Every other running app has this built-in. In fact I agree that your code scaffolding is in place for this already. I might just switch to Garmin and quit paying for Strava. Seriously, I'm a couple months away from being fed up as a paid customer. $7/mo for what, to drain my battery with supporting apps so I can flex an ego on another social network? Na.

  • Another one from Runkeeper here. Strava seems great, and loving it so far (its much more responsive than Runkeeper), but having interval voice cues is a must have! Briefly skimming over the thread it sounds like the argument is there isn't enough resource for it? But there is enough resource to do flybys?

Please add interval audio cues! it would make strava the complete package for runners.

    Thanks!

  • So, it's been 3 years and they still don't offer this simple feature. They literally just need to add a system they already have for running to cycling. That MapMyRide premium is looking better and better.. while also being cheaper.

  • Hi guys,

the fact that we have interval training videos without an interval timer is strange.

We really need an interval timer!

    Thank you
