"Mute" an athlete you're Following to hide them from your Feed

There are a couple of people who I follow who record all their activity, which sometimes can be three different activities in one day (they are usually very short runs/rides to work). I don't want to unfolllow or block these people, I thought it would be a good function to be able to mute these athletes; Twitter have now bought in this function so that you can mute a user but still follow them.

  • I'll second that - this would be very useful!

  • I'll third that. Even better is "mute" anything under a certain distance, e.g. 10km, thereby filtering out someone's commute but still being notified about their longer weekend spins!

  • Would be good to mute athletes completely as well. There are people I follow because we're friends (so I don't want to unfollow) but I don't particularly want to my timeline clogged up with their activities.

  • I would also like to see this feature please. There are a number of people who I may wish to check up on occasionally but not see their activity in my feed every day. Also those who I don't have any interest in but feel it would be rude to unfollow them.

  • I approve this enhancement request.  Should be pretty easy to build within the settings of Strava

  • This is my most wanted Strava feature. I want to see all people I know (in any way) on the "people you follow" leaderboards, but I try to follow as few people as possible to avoid clogging the news feed. Mute would be sooo nice

  • So.................. when is this coming?  Would seem like a pretty standard feature for social media these days.  Even instagram finally relented, and added a mute feature.

  • I can only repeat the words above. Please add in a ‘mute’ feature so I can concentrate on the friends I really want to follow every day without unfollowing people.

  • Really need this feature. I think muting is essential for any social media feed. Looking forward to this feature being released hopefully sooner than later :D

  • Bump this thread please, I have unfollowed some friends as they put literally everything they do on Strava, even 'watched a football match' and 'stretching' for 10 mins or 0.1 mile walked the dog. I swear people are going to start putting their bowel movements on here soon. If there were a way to stay 'friends on Strava' with an option to 'exclude this athlete from my feed' that would be great.

  • Yes please - either a feature to mute people or threshold settings to only have their activities above a certain distance appear in my feed.

  • I like to follow professional athletes, but would like to hide some of them without unfollowing, so that I can see my close friends' activities regularly without having to scroll through all the stages of the pro cyclists I follow. thanks - I have loved being a starva participant and follower since the early years!

  • Strava, are you listening?  This request has been discussed for YEARS!  Please include a feature to mute people you follow without unfollowing (aka unfriending) them...  Just start with that and get it going...  You can further develop this feature over time, but please just get it going...  You can later add in such things as "Favorites" and "thresholds" and all sorts of other things to dress it up...  But until then, please just simply add a mute option in...

Please, Please, and Thank You in advance!

  • They don't seem to listen to us at all, it's the reason I won't pay for premium, if they listened and added features that loads of people ask for then I would gladly pay a bit each month but they don't seem to listen or care :(

  • Bump.....

This topic is 5 yrs old. I hope it's not another 5 years before Strava gets a mute button.

  • I definitely agree with this - surely it can't be hard to add a 'mute' button, or a 'snooze X for 30 days' option?

  • voting also for that one !
I am surprised this feature does not exist yet, where you can see it on many majors internet media ...

  • Looking forward to this being an option eventually; or an opt-in or opt-out of viewing anything from Zwift!

  • Please add this feature. I don't want to see every easy run from someone who runs every day but I do want to be able to click on their profile and see their races etc. If they are a "request to follow" athlete right now it is all or nothing.

I don't want to unfollow them but I also want to make sure I see my friend's good runs rather than having them hidden by a bunch of easy/WU/CD runs.

  • +1 to this,   Strava never listen to their users....if they did I might pay for premium.

Maybe devs have left the company because somebody is finally working on something better. You can’t even remove Kudos once you’ve given it. Here comes “alternatives to Strava” in my Google search

  • Just got an email from Strava saying that they are planning to be more responsive. Not a high bar on this topic, looks like. Bump. :)

  • You'd think with the new recent structural changes, subscribers would at least get the 'mute' function - but it looks like nothing new has been added to Strava. So what's the point of paying?

    - I did just read the above article (updated today) suggesting it may have finally been implemented, but even though I have installed the latest update I still can't see the mute button.
