Manually set Average Speed and Total Time for a Strava Route

Currently the estimate route time on a new route takes into account your average speed over the last 4 weeks. Which is fine if you only to one type of riding. However I log both my road riding and off road MTB riding, affecting the average speed and but I also log family rides with my 6 year old....which just kills my average speed and so the feature become useless to me.

It would be much better if one can set the speed manually to fit with the current riding style (whether it be 20 mph or 6 mph) giving a much more accurate indication of the time a route will take. (See Garmin connect for sample feature) I would also be good if this could then be transferred to the virtual partner speed on a Garmin device (not sure if that is possible) so you could race against that average speed.

  • Another suggestion, maybe we can select the bike we want to ride with a route.

  • Manually set the avg speed would be really essential. After many years of experience I can of course calculate the time for different riding syle, but aould make the life easier. Uploadin with this (and elevation!) data to the virtual partner would be a great feature, that made my payments for Premium membership much happier.

  • Any possibility on this?  I like the route builder, but end up plotting rides elsewhere after exploring on Strava.  One of the main reasons is speed control.  I liked bikeroutetoaster.com's options for flat speed, plus VAM for climbing and speedup rate on descents to really create a useful virtual partner.  Strava's method of averaging ride data is useless to me as I am almost never doing an "average ride", either harder or easier.

  • Agreed here.  I'm creating a route for a 100 mile gravel ride, but most of my 4 week history is <30 mile rides on a time trial bike.  As much as I'd love to hold my average speed, it's not going to happen. :)

  • Another "must have" which Strava doesn't seem to have the will to implement after years of asking. Oh well..
