Track My Gear (Bikes and Components) by Hours used

Hello there,
considering we already have the amount of km spent on a bike, maybe someone else (or is it just me) wouldn't mind also seeing the time spent on a specific bike: the main reason is because maintainance on a road bike is mostly based on the amount of km you've ridden (at least that's the only thing I think about: when to switch tires), while on a mountain bike you need to know more or less how much time you have spent on it in order to maintain suspensions.
Bye!

  • I'd also like to see this feature implemented so that I can track the need for suspension servicing on a mountain bike. The manufacturers specify service intervals in number of hours of use, not distance travelled, so being able to monitor through Strava would be very useful.

  • Hi all,

ProBikeGarage is a bike maintenance tracker app that integrates with Strava and allows to register service alerts based on moving time. It also allows to switch components between bikes, log services and so.

    Take a look: https://www.probikegarage.com/

  • Tracking hours on a mountain bike would be awesome.  I was a premium user for a year, then reverted back to free.  I would absolutely go back to premium if this feature were enabled.  I'm no software engineer, but it seems that the data is there - I get moving time for every ride -  just would need to be added to the interface.

    Thanks Strava!

  • + 1, I would also like Strava to keep track of hours used on a bike to help with the maintenance schedule.   Otherwise, not sure how to do this without getting out a pen and paper.

  • This should in theory be possible via the API... I'm surprised nobody has written an app to do it.

  • @Matt Brewster Thanks for that! Will have a play.

Would be great for Strava to implement at least the basic version of this, with a simple Hours Ridden though!

  • The app you refer to does not exit for iPhone. Besides I would like the information in Strava and not in a different app.

  • That sounds great but I can't find it in the App Store.

  • I have cancelled my Strava subscription until they implement some mtb specific functionality.

  • One more request for ride time by bike - super useful for correct MTB suspension maintenance intervals!

  • Another request for the same.  Please add hours ridden for each bike, it would make bike maintenance tracking so much easier!

  • Another premium user with the same request. Might end up cancelling my subscription next time around as the Strava developers appear to have flashy social media projects prioritized over real functionality that people have been asking for.

  • To add usage by hours as extra info, and som kind of maintanance log, then I for sure will start pay for the account.
As mtb rider i would love to have this, now I use a estimated average speed... And calculate when to do for maintanance.

Hour usage should be simple for u to add... Cross my fingers an hope for the best.

  • Same issue here. I'm looking to service suspension and IDK how many hours are on the bike. Also a good thing to know if you go to sell it!

  • I used Klipfolio to build myself a Strava dashboard. You can use it to crunch the numbers of your activities to get annual mileage and time for your bikes. It takes some reading of the Strava API and learning everything there is about Klips and Data Sources in Klipfolio, but if you like that sort of stuff it’s a pretty cool tool.

It would be cool if Strava partnered with Klipfolio and offered a Dashboard Pack with premade Klips so that Strava athletes could assemble them into personal dashboards or add individual Klips to their website or blog.

Here’s a graph showing the usage of my bikes and here’s a full screenshot of my current dashboard.

  • Oh come on Strava. This would take one of your developers an afternoon to implement. Hand it off to one of them in a hackathon and be done with it already.

  • 5 years in the asking and still not implemented?  Does't make sense to me!  I'd subscribe if this were part of the package..Just saying.....

  • As a paying member, I would also love this feature. Couldnt you make a more advanced gear tracking possible for paying members? Both hours spent and days since added should be shown. For instance suspension on mountain bikes has service intervals by hours in use or time. For instance Fox recommends service every 125 hours / 1 year.

  • I really need this, I need to track the time I use my suspension and shock of my bike for service.

  • Surely a pretty simple additional feature to add...
As per other comments, would make the data much more applicable for MTBs
