Show "My Segments" on a map

Please can you show "My Segments" on a map - helps planning routes - especially if you have a lot of segments its hard to keep track of where they all are.

When planning a route, it would also be good to show starred segments too

  • I totally agree!

I star a lot of segments that I'd like to attempt, but it's often hard to know which are on or near a route just by their names. In fact, I don't care about their names, I really care about their locations, directions, and lengths. I'd love to see my starred segments on a map so I can dive deeper into any that are along the route I'm considering. Some days I might even use segments to decide on a route.

I've resorted to bookmarking segments in my browser, organized in folders by region and route direction, so I can open them all easily and see their respective locations. This is pretty inefficient, but it's the best way that I know to find the ones that matter when I want them.

  • +1 for this feature request - when planning rides, this would be really useful.

A filter/search would be great too

  • I could really use this too, how do I "vote" for it?

  • Just now trying to identify if this feature exists.  Would be super helpful to be able to use Segment Explorer map and be able to toggle on "My Segments".

Is there another place to request features like this or give a +1 to it?

  • I'm Working in a App that has this functionality

    http://stravasegmentpersonalmap.luismiguelcisneros.com

It's on Beta phase, only last 6 month of segments (I don't want to pay for hosting/databases/etc)

And need to improve a lot of thing, your comments will be grateful.

  • The above doesn't seem to work anymore so I made this page: https://strava.bouncingfox.co.uk as I really wanted this now I've moved to another country and got lots of recommendations of routes/climbs to ride. I found it impossible to collate them all together to see where they are relative to each other on Strava. Hopefully this page will help others too.
It uses the Strava API and just links to your account to show your starred segments on a Google map (no data is collected and stored). I hope it helps anyone having a similar issue.
Please let me know if it is useful or you have any ideas or suggestions.

  • Hi!

My web still work 😅 but I don't have time to make the improvements that I want.
The webweb is on heroku free host, it's take a while starting.

    Greetings!

  • Sorry! Maybe I didn't wait long enough for the details to load.

At least there are 2 other options now which show how easy it would be for Strava to implement themselves.

    Thanks,
    Richard

  • richard - good work fella, i like it a lot. gradually building up a toolset that fills all the gaps in functionality that strava should be providing out of the box

Luis - looks like it is partially working for me, it has brought in 14 of about 80 starred segments. i am definitely not complaining as you have done the work here, but it would help if the segments could show the segment path on the map as well.

  • FYI the above https://strava.bouncingfox.co.uk  site has now been updated so that it syncs your starred segments with Strava which allows some filtering. At the moment this is just on the climb category but if there are requests for more features i can add these going forwards.

There is a limit of 200 segments at the moment though.

  • These apps don't seem to be supported anymore - at least I can't get them to connect to strava. Are there any alternatives, or are the devs considering to implement this feature?

  • @Peter Granum my integration on https://strava.bouncingfox.co.uk should be working (I just tested and have another site that uses same authentication which is ok), you may have to clear the browser cache as Strava updated their API last year so I had to make some updates. Let me know if you have any specific issues.
Would be good to see this implemented in the website / app but doubt it is coming any time soon.

  • I tried clearing the cache, but it did not work for me - neither with firefox nor edge. I don't log in with google or facebook. but with a normal strava account. Could that be the issue?

  • Can "My Segments" be listed on a single page at least... then I can go Ctrl+F to find the one I'm looking for...

  • @peter Granum sorry for the late reply I didn't see the updates. A normal Strava account should work, this is what I use and haven't had any issues. There could be some security settings that are interfering but I am not sure what that would be.
When you try to authenticate do you get redirected to the Strava website and asked to authorise the application? Once authorising do you get redirected back to the segment explorer page? I assume at this point you don't get an authorised message but get asked to authenticate again?

In addition the segment explorer now has the option to filter by segment length (https://strava.bouncingfox.co.uk)
