Android Wear standalone GPS Tracking

Hello Strava,

Android Wear has just received an update that allows tracking using the watch's in-built GPS.  Currently only the Sony Smartwatch 3 supports this, however, I'm sure this will change very soon.  It would be great to leave my phone behind when I go cycling/running and just use my smart watch to track my progress.  Please can you tell me, does Strava have plans to utilize this new standalone GPS functionality in an Android Wear app?

Thanks,

Bryn.

  • Strava have disappeared from my Sony Smartwatch 3. I did a Strava update on my phone today. Have you removed the Google Wear feature?
Long MTB race in two days and was counting on to use Strava for progress check. (Sony Xperia Z3 Compact with Android version 6.0.1 and Smartwatch 3 build number M1D63G and Android Wear version 1.5.0.3044569).

  • Hi @Elle, does it work without a phone now? People seem to still have issues with it.

  • It is really great that Android technology has the capability to provide the features such as GPS tracking that mainly use to access the proper location. You may get other details from Epson customer service that will guide you in a significant way.
