More goal types

I really like ability to add power or segment time goals, but that seems like a limited selection (most users aren't rocking $2000 power meters anyway).  I like that Strava's feature set is careful and intentional, so I wouldn't want to see a million new, confusing goal options.  But, a few simple additions would be fantastic and motivating.  Here's a short list to get started:

Pace or Speed Goal - Ex: I'd like to run a sub-7-minute mile pace for at least 5 miles by January 1 (for cyclists, use speed).

Climbing goal - I'd like to climb 2000 feet in one ride (or run) by December 1.

     [Your idea here.]

The point here is to de-couple the goal from the geographic location (the segment).  I might want to run a 20-minute 5k but might not run the same route every day.

Who's with me?!?!?

Thanks.

  • I'd like to be able to set a weekly and yearly climbing goal, such as 2000m/week and 100000m for the year.  Also, I'd like to have a goal of riding 100km (or some other number) at least once each week.

I don't find this type of goal setting on Garmin Connect, either.

  • I would like to set weekly, monthly, and yearly climbing goals as well.  Even just one of the three would allow me to calculate the others.

  • I'd would like to pace or speed goals, especially one that encourage to maintain a certain average for all runs during a week or month. The weekly distance and time goals aren't useful to me, but goals of pace (or even goals of reaching at targeted distances over a number of runs for week or month) would be.

  • I agree with the sentiment of this thread. Not being able to set goals based on pace and distance ("40 minute 10k") makes the goals feature awfully weak. I only got to look at goals for the first time this week because I got a 30 day trial of Strava Premium - I have to say the current implementation of Goals does not entice to keep paying for Premium.
