Weekly customization for Strava Training Plans

I'm trying out the new Training Plans. Problem is, due to my schedule, I have to shuffle the workouts around. Taking Monday as a rest day and riding on Sunday is not possible for me, but I can't configure the training program for that (to ride Monday, rest on Sunday).

Two weeks ago, I thought ahead and started the plan to let it run a full week so I could see what the specific workouts are. Then I stopped it last Sunday, and restarted it because I wanted to be going through the program at the same time Strava thinks I am.

Obviously that idea was flawed because now I still don't have next week's detailed plan ahead of time so I can plan next week's training according to my schedule... I would've had to start training one week into the program while letting the program run after all.

Unfortunately, the weekly summary that is sent on Sundays is not precise enough because it doesn't include the specifics about each type of interval (sets, reps, recovery).

Ideally, when previewing training plans, as well as viewing your training plan page (once started), the tool would show a full, detailed, daily workout prescription for the complete program (at the very least).

That would let folks like me adapt the program to their schedules in their training spreadsheet (still can't get rid of that thing, unfortunately!).

What would be awesome is to include a "plan builder" tool that lets a person decide which days will be rest days, and which days which workout will be done, keeping in mind that CTS doesn't recommend doing more than 2 interval days in a row, etc.

  • This is a serious issue for the running training plans too! Like many people, I do my long runs on Saturdays, not Sundays, and I would need to shift my workouts earlier by one day, yet I won't find out what the workout is until the afternoon, so it just doesn't seem to work.

  • I would also like to have the option to set the rest day to Sunday instead of Monday.

  • I would like to have my rest day on Sunday and start the training on a Monday - is there a way of doing this?

  • Like Katie, I would like to be able to update the plan to have my long runs on Saturdays, not Sundays.

  • I am in the same situation, I would also like to shift the running days over by a day so I run on my normal days around my other commitments

  • +1. Sundays are the day of rest for me. These plans are useless since I can't adapt them to my schedule.

  • Well, that clearly sucks. I got my Strava premium trial, to check the plan, but you can't adjust or add flexibility to them. Not very useful feature. I'm probably will carry on using Strava, along with Nike+ Run Club for a free training plan which suits my calendar.

  • Hi there, it's 2018 and nothing has changed... can we please get customizable training plans at least in terms of start / end dates or preferences for long run days?

It would be nice to see details of more than just next week to plan ahead.

  • You should be able to select and alter the main training day because this is central. Actually, you have to cancel the plan and restart a new one which throws the content of your training sessions back to start. Like Felipe Lora posted: It's 2019 and nothing has changed.

  • Why haven't this changed already?

Last time I stopped paying for the summit with strava with a feature that wasn't fixed in years. Now I wanted to start a running plan so I payed for the summit again, but these kind of "features" are really frustrating, and seems that they aren't listening to the users at all.

  • I specifically only race on Saturdays due to religious reasons. The plan is useless when the focus can only be based around a Sunday race.
