Customize Display on Record Screen

I'm new to Strava, is there any way for users to pick which statistics show up on the Record screen? For example instead of time being the primary number shown can I make it distance?

  • Matt: No that's not right. I'm currently using Premium Strava and I stil can't customize the screen. You should return it and buy a Garmin/Wahoo!

  • Pinging this old thread because I'd most definitely go premium if i could customize my ride screen to show current data as opposed to ride average (for example).

feels like a lost opportunity by the Strava team to make the Premium membership super-attractive.

  • Strava Support, please provide an update to the status of being able to customize the data fields, or be able to cycle between multiple pages of data, on the live recording screen. This is very frustrating for such a huge feature to be missing from such an established app. This would be an excellent feature to make premium-only and you would get many more people to upgrade for this alone.

  • Hang on a second... this is the year 2017 and an "activity recording" app does not allow for the "record screen" to be customized to a user's prefs? Not even as premium? Perfect op to lure people to go premium. Further, nobody of Strava's staff feel it appropriate to comment on this thread over the course of two years? You might want to consider communicating with your customers, Strava. And allow them to customize!

  • I've had it, just cancelled my Strava subscription in favour of one of the other excellent bike computer apps in the Play Store. I guess Strava just couldn't care less about us folks who mount their smartphones on their bikes instead of unnecessarily forking out loads of cash for dedicated bike computers

  • I am also a Premium user and would like to be able to customize the data display on my iPhone. Any update from Strava development team yet?

  • No updates from Srava. They wouldn't make the screen customizable or otherwise, no one would buy dedicated bike computers anymore.

  • It's not a priority because it would create a conflict with bike computer hardware makers because there surely is user interest and it's an easy thing to implement, even for an intern.

  • If it were an issue of conflicts with bike computer, then Strava would already be in conflict, as they already have live stats on their record screen. They have clearly designed this app to be used on handlebar mounts for live data. I do not believe allowing the user to customize what data is displayed makes any difference. It would be great if we could get an answer as to why they have "shelved" this feature.

  • The Strava app, as is, is not competitive with garmin hardware. If the app were customizable as discussed here, it would be. With a good device and sleek mount (quad lock), the need for secondary hardware is shrinking.

  • Pinging this old thread (almost 30 months) and thinking about deal break my premium signature if Strava continue to give this kind of support to the customers. Total lack of respect with customers.

  • Well, two years is long enough to wait for no response from Strava - I've moved to Gaia GPS, for this feature set, as well as much better in-route directions (course notes while riding a saved route, and better facility for uploading routes for use later).

Love the social aspect of Strava, but not so much the lack of in-activity info.

  • The lack of feedback from Strava is disappointing, to say the least. Interestingly enough, there was a response from them just a few days ago - "Elle Anderson: Sorry everyone - this project isn't a priority for us so it has been shelved until further notice. Please continue adding your support and we hope to consider this idea in the future." This reply seems to have disappeared now? I am not surprised, because how can it not be interpreted as disrespectful. It's like saying: We shelved something you people have just expressed you care deeply about (but we don't give a damn) and better still, we don't even tell you why!

  • I run strava in the background and use Runtastic on my screen. It is highly customizable and gives a load of details.

  • Stephen: That's what I do as well. Runtastic Road Bike offers a sufficient amount of information and it's totally customizable. I love use runtastic.com for the stastistics and info. I just use Strava to connect with the other riders and their segments. That's pretty much it. They offer very little features in comparison to the other apps.

  • I can't get runtastic to dim the screen when in 'keep screen on' mode. Otherwise it would be perfect to run in the foreground with Strava in the background.

  • I wish strava would just be honest about this. They've obviously done deals with garmin etc to not add such features. Oh well.  Strava will never see my money.

  • It's probably part of the deal to not disclose aspects of the deal, since it casts a dark shadow. Maybe they're working toward an acquisition. Imagine Garmin taking over being complelled to remove those features.

I would pay for an app provides some basic customizable stats (time of day, distance, elapsed time, avg mph, 5 min HR) and would stay active dimming after 5 seconds. Ready go.

  • Unsubscribing from this thread because I just don't care anymore. Strava - who cares?

  • I agree with everyone - my cycling buddy just asked me how to do it and I thought i had done it.  Searched for awhile, couldn't figure it out and started searching.  I'll add my name to the list of people wanting it.

I use Wahoo for my sensors, and they have a WONDERFUL interface that you can customize to your hearts content....

  • This is major and I agree with the request 100%. If you make your data screens and fields truly customizable you will actually have an app that can compete with a real bike computer such as the Garmin Edge or Wahoo ELEMNT. Until this happens, no serious competitive cyclist is going to use the app. I'd pay $50 for an app that did this (not a year of course) because I think it's absurd to buy a bike computer when I already have an advanced computer with a beautiful and large color screen in the palm of my hand. Whoever does this first may be able to take the bike computer market by storm. It's a marketing no brainer, so one might wonder if companies like Garmin and Wahoo have legal restrictions on Strava implementing this, or they are paying Strava not to implement the feature. Hmmmm.

  • Problem is, for some reason ($?) Strava don't want to compete with Garmin devices. When I scroll through suggestions I think, that Strava dont care at all about simple improvements. Do You know, that Google will pay Apple about $3 billion this year, up from $1 billion just three years ago, to remain the default search engine on iPhones and iPads? Similar case..

  • It seems strava become a kind of facebook!

    https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1889836194376635&id=1650456574981266

And I just wanted to be able to customize the screen...
I just would like a dark screen during night rides...

instead I now have two facebooks! Sad!

    #wtf

  • It seems odd that this is not a priority at Strava. I for one would like to know my average speed while riding.

  • Another point I can’t even make out the figures on Strava , Wahoo fitness is big and bold and has all live speed cadence etc. So I do what I expect everyone else does, Strava in background other app upfront. Would definitely tempt me to premium if available.
