Add "Shoes" to Hike, Walk and Snowshoe activities

I would like to add my shoes in the Hike, Walk and Snowshoe activities, to control the kilometers performed with each shoe.

Also would be nice to add hauling kms that have been made before recording the tracks on Strava (good for new users).

I think it will be useful for many users and very easy to do. Thank you.

  • I tweeted at Strava, they said, in short, no. https://twitter.com/StravaSupport/status/949357582224904193

Sorry everyone! This is not something we're working on at the moment. I understand this post has been around for a while, with tons of great feedback. The problem is we have too many tough choices to make with what we work on at any given time. Prioritizing is difficult but we always appreciate all your feedback so please keep it coming. "

  • This should be trivial to implement, the code is already there for running, then the feature gets hidden depending on which sport is chosen. Probably a half hour fix, but ignored in the typical strava manner while they chase after new hipster features rather than fixing the basics

  • I agree, they features completed over the last two years from customer feedback total about 3. They tweeted the list at me then deleted it very quickly!

Garmin Connect can add gear to hikes. Switch back time, for a while anyway.

  • This won't make them any revenue, and that's all that Strava cares about these days. They have the customer base already, so instead of useful features that the long-time members have been asking for they are focused on attracting new customers (revenue streams) with gimmicky social media crap.

  • So despite saying they wouldn't do this and saying it's not on the road map, it seems they implemented it?!

I noticed when my running shoes took a massive jump in milage, all the hikes from the past defaulted to them.

  • Sure, enough - walking now supports mileage for shoes.  Nice!

  • Thanks to Strava devs/PMs for (finally) finding the cycles to do this.

  • C'mon Strava, 3 years later and I still can't select my shoes for hiking? Did you only implement this on iOS or something because gear selection definitely isn't available on Android, on my new phone with latest strava update.

  • Yes, on the computer... still can’t do it on the app, which is what we all use on a daily basis.
