Exclude Power Data from the Power Curve for an Activity

I have some rides with bad power data (i did not calibrate my powermeter before the ride).
I would like to exclude those rides from the power curves, without deleting em (i like to keep track of all my rides on strava).
Perhaps a a checkbox could be added to the Activity's properties (the same place where i can check "Private") ?

  • I agree it seems very strange Strava does not seem to want to add what must be a relatively simple feature. i.e "Ignore power data".

My issue was my stages power meter malfunctioned - I suspect a wet ride the night before - resulting in a 1% effort! I enjoy tracking my freshness and fitness and even though I had cycled for over 2 hours and was wearing a heart rate monitor the incorrect power readings meant my ride had no effect apart from implying I was a bit fresher and a little bit less fit :-)

I did try the .FIT, remove power data route but that didn't work for me.

The manual edit, suggested above by Ceall, of the .GPX file (I used Notepad) was really easy - a simple search of  "power>"  + replace all with "powerdeleted>" (ignore quote marks)

Not ideal, but I suggest next time, if needed, it would take me less than 1 minute, so...

  • Wow how have they not implemented this yet? Surely would not be very hard. Very keen to have this added.

  • My power meter went crazy and I was hitting 2000w when I was doing ~200w. Now my power curves are messed up. Be great to have a tick box to exclude the power data.

  • Yup, I just paid for a Premium account to get access to my Power Curve, only to find out erroneous power data on many past rides is making my curve less than useful. Garmin Connect (free) allows me to exclude certain rides from the Power Curve, so why not Strava? Adding a new boolean field "IncludeInPowerCurve" to their rides/activities database table should be simple, and add WHERE IncludeInPowerCurve = TRUE in their PowerCurve query. And then add a "Include in Power Curve" checkbox in the Edit Ride options (or wherever). Deleting the ride, editing the file, and adding it back again, and losing all the social history isn't acceptable for a site that's based on the the social aspect of activities.

  • Hi, any news on this issue?  I need to delete all my indoor power records for three months, powermeter failed and now have an extraordinary fitness curve, probably similar to Froome´s.  Need to fix this, please, Mr. Strava.

  • Still hoping for this feature..... some rides with my old Newton PM on MTB read ~20-39 w higher than Vectors ((TT and road)  totally throws off curve.

    ………….crickets...…..

  • I have the same issue. one ride with 1000-2000W demolishes my graph. I do not want to delete that activity

  • Now that Strava's stepping it up a notch, can we please have this feature?

  • Run and cycling power data should be kept separate. This ruins the cycling power curve for anyone whose watch estimates power data from runs. It's not encouraging to see no reply to this in 5 years; I'm not sure I'll be keeping my subscription.

  • Have recently got a Stryd Run Pod mainly so I can run accurately on a treadmill with Zwift, - Finding its sending power to Strava so my Strava power curve is now incorporating run power as well as bike - obviously now it's completely useless - and I used to reference my power curve and fitness / freshness a lot and use it to guide training - this is potentially a show stopper in terms of using Strava as a training management tool. Please allow the power data separation for run and bike (ideally) or removal as per many posts in this thread.
