Show all-time Max Speed

How can I quickly see what my max speed was, ever since using Strava, is there a way, please? I'm using Strava free version.

  • Just tried to do the same (as I thought I'd set a new max today), apparently you can't!

Who'd have thought a cyclist would be interested in a metric like speed....

  • I wouldn't mind being able to see this too, although I can see it on Garmin Connect anyway, the problem I see with this reading though is that I'm not sure if I could ever believe it. Looking at a lot of rides there are some often wild spikes in speeds that are just unrealistic, especially using the phone apps. If Strava reports these spikes as maximum speeds then the data would be useless...

  • Hello -

Max speed is displayed on both the Strava mobile app and on the Strava website.

To @Tim's point, our max speed calculation does not smooth out GPS errors, so the value can become inflated.

  • @Elle - these guys are asking for max speed of a historic nature ie: maximum speed attained over ALL of their rides that they have uploaded, not just for the current ride (like you do with showing on your profile page - max distance, biggest climb etc)

  • Sorry about the confusion - moving this to our feature suggestion section!

  • Thank you Tim B that is exactly what I was after, you said you use Garmin Connect to see this currently, how did you see the Max Speed ever through ALL rides as I looked but couldn't see it? .

Thank you Elle Anderson that would be great if this feature could be added, how long do new features like this take to get added?

  • @Robert, assuming that you have loaded your rides into your Garmin Connect account, max speed and other overall stats can be seen in the Progress Report.

Go to Analyze > Reports > Progress Report - Select ALL Days and ANY ACTIVITY and should show all of your totals etc.

I use a Garmin GSC10 speed sensor on my bikes, but there is still a discrepancy between what Garmin reports (which I believe to be the true speed) and what Strava shows for the same ride, so not sure if Strava ignores the Garmin data and uses GPS data anyway or what. I don't have any wild spikes in Strava, but it would be nice if Strava used the actual speed sensor data, for instance Max speed on GC is 106kp/h and on Strava it is around 102kp/h for the same ride.

  • Thank you Tim B, using Garmin Connect as you described gave me exactly what I was after, I had to add in the Max Speed in but it worked fine.  Thanks again.  I have also noticed a discrepancy between what Garmin reports and what Strava shows for the same ride uploaded from the same file on my Garmin 200!

  • Any news on this. I let a colleague know my fastest speed ever and he wanted proof. I cant be bothered going through each and every ride to find it. Any news on this feature being put on the profile page?

  • Hi, I'd like to vote for this feature as well, would be nice to know my all time fastest speed on any segments.  Thx.

  • I started using Strava again, but am disappointed it doesn't display Maximum speed.  I have been using Maprika which display maximum speed.  I like Maprika, but it random ends your activity so it isn't very reliable.  Starva doesn't randomly shut down, but I would love to see my maximum speed for each ride as I am riding.

  • Honestly I think this is somewhat useless.

Anyone who has been logging to Strava for a while will have the odd GPS blip for one poll, that says you're doing anything from 47 km/h to 106 km/h.  In the same way that I have a cadence peak of 302 RPM and a heart rate of 342 BPM on various rides.

  • I'd like to have this as well. I don't use GPS for speed, I use a speed and cadence sensor. I was just thinking about my fastest speed ever... and had no way to find it.

  • The max speed on my Garmin doesn't show up in Strava. I deleted the Activity in Strava and uploaded my .tcx file from Garmin and still doesn't show the max speed. And my speed or avg is much lower too in Strava.

  • When I first got on Strava in 2011, there were a lot of other metrics in the right column on a profile page. Am I misremembering that it used to display this?

I would love to see that data (or see it return if that's the case).

  • @adam if you use Chrome as a browser, look at installing an addon called "stravistix" which adds a lot of info in.  The year-on-year cumulative graph for distance and elevation is my personal favourite.  You also get more numbers on the right side.

  • This would be a seriously cool feature to add to Strava along with other features like slowest speed, max elevation etc......

  • Would love to be able to see this!

What about adding it as a sortable column on the "My Activities" (https://www.strava.com/athlete/training) page - that way we can ignore any GPS blips - and filter by bike etc.

  • Probably so you don’t kill yourself always chasing a faster speed and then your family blames Strava.

  • Four year and still not added, but at least there "know your competition" feature has been added. So much more informative!
