Option to remove specific best efforts for runs
So recently I have done a couple of runs where I have not waited for my gps to connect to enough satellites to pinpoint me which has caused so erroneous gps data. Once it does find me it jumps and gives me a silly 1k time, which when uploaded to strava gives me a wrong best effort time. The GPS distance always finishes correctly just the first few miles are to slow, there is one that is far too quick and then it sorts itself out.
Sure I could delete the run but I also got a 15k and 10mile PR on the same run which are accurate!
This would also be helpful if you wanted to remove any of your own best efforts for any reason.
I have sent a support ticket to get them removed but the strava team have not done anything about them.

Yes please.
I did the Paris marathon yesterday which includes two tunnels where GPS signal is lost. I want to keep my marathon best effort which is obviously still accurate enough but not the 1 mile and 1km which were generated somehow when the GPS signal was regained at the end of the tunnel(s).
Yes please. I have a run where the first few km were in a built up area and the GPS went crazy giving me a very good best effort for 5k.
I also have this issue, any suggestions to fix it would be greatly appreciated!
frustrating tohave a best effort which is not attainable any more and which is not correct.
solving by a formal acknowledge of the record before accepting ( a bit like garmin connect) would be ok for me.
or an option of deeting a best time
very happyif you would providethis
+1, my 5K and 10K best efforts are coming from erroneous GPS data, it would be great to be able to remove them without deleting the run. Unfortunately my 5k is now near the world record so, yes, technically could be beaten, but probably not by me...
This has been asked in many different forms for quite a while. I wish Strava hired some more developers :-(
Agree with all the former runners !!
Please allow strata users to erase wrong PR linked to erroneous GPS data. Tx
Agreed!!
Same issue. My 5K best effort is coming from bad GPS data. I want to remove it, without deleting the workout.
Reading this thread, it appears Strava has not offered a solution. If anyone know the answer please post. Thanks!
What I found that works, is to split the run into three activities. Do this by clicking the wrench icon when viewing the activity, then choose split. Proceed to then split the activity around the crappy GPS data. Then you'll have three separate activities. Delete the one with the bad GPS data, then you get rid of the unattainable PR's, but you get to keep the ones you actually earned. I just named them run one, and run one continued.
Thanks for the tip Riley Stringer, just followed your instructions and this has done the job for me!
Thanks also from Singapore here on this suggestion Riley. This worked and now I again have an attainable 5k running PR to shoot for. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Thanks for the tip! Worked for me.
Would be a great feature. My best efforts will forever be tainted by bad GPS data running among tall buildings downtown, unless I flag them. I wouldn't mind that as much if it didn't also subtract from my weekly mileage.
I would be happy if we can just hide an entire activity from any best effort category (rather than being choosy about what distance is removed), similar to the button that hides an activity from segment leaderboards.
I agree with previous posts that the best solution for keeping your overall data, but not messing up your best estimated efforts would be to have the option to accept or reject it as the best effort. I don't want to delete, or cut, or split the run. It's pretty obvious looking at the details of the run where things went wrong and where they leveled back out. I just don't want the erroneous data contributing to false best effort data. Please make this change.
hey, any updates on this? the split solution works... but should be easier!
Any updates on this?
Please add this, Strava! I have a totally legitimate run with some messed up GPS data (due to running between tall buildings). This has created a totally bogus 5k best effort. Now that I've had one of my better 5k efforts, I'd really like to be able to see where that stands!
+1
Almost all my best efforts displayed are due to a GPS bug, but I don't want to delete the races... and my real personal best efforts are then not shown (because less impressive ;-)).
Please Strava Team, could you please add an option to ignore certain personal records on some races ?
Thanks a lot !!
I've seen no evidence that Strava support follows up on these threads. In their stead, I will say that I fixed my problem by contacting Strava support directly: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216917127-Estimated-Best-Efforts-for-Running. You can submit a ticket and someone will follow up and remove all best efforts from any given activity.
Yes please. Now due to a GPS error, user error or who knows what I'm KOM on something where I don't deserve an honorable mention. It's embarrassing. I hate to delete the workout though, 'cause it was a good one and a PR too.
+1
with the high imprecision of gps devices, i'm surprised there's no option to remove PRs from an activity
Yes agreed
It is too bad that Strava doesn’t use alternative pace data if available. In Garmin Connect and the Stryd app, the pace is taken from the Stryd footpad, which is extremely accurate. The GPS signal is only used to show the route on the map. Now I got a silly 1 km PR because the GPS connected badly :-(
