Why not display Calories burned and Heart Rate info for ALL activities??

Why am I not able to see calories burned and heart rate information for any activity beside outdoor cycling and outdoor running?  All the information is readily accessible through my Garmin Connect account.  I want to use Strava to track my workouts, but what good is it if all I can see is the fact that I did a workout and the amount of time I spent.

Calories burned and heart rate information should be uploaded and displayed for weight training, treadmill, indoor cycling, swimming, etc.

Strava clearly has the ability to access this information because it uploads it on runs.  As a premium subscriber this is something sensible that should be readily available.

  • I notice that the heart rate "switch" is turned off by default for my treadmill run (below the graph) but can turn it on.  I found this page trying to find out why calories burned aren't listed.  Maybe because it will vary based on treadmill settings like incline?  Maybe heart rate and distance isn't enough?  You figure they could make an educated guess...

  • Strava doesn't know how to estimate Calories burned for other activities because it ignores HR data and estimates energy expenditure based on time, speed, and elevation change.

  • couldn't agreed more. I couldn't even find the calories burned on the dashboard...or do i have to go premium? Strava is a great social-fitness tool but clearly lacking in content. can we have some response from Strava please.

  • My calories used have been shown on main stats pic... until a recent 11 mile walk and they are nowhere to be seen ! Why not please? I've always used free app and been great until now :(

  • Just noticed that calories were not showing up for my latest run, I've used a different app in my watch and apparently it didn't inform Strava that it was a Run. I've edited the activity, informed it as a Run and all the regular information now show up.

Kinda late on this answer, but just in case someone else needs it :)

  • I had realization today.  Went snowshoeing on the same trails as I hike on.  Cool that Strava has snowshoeing as an activity however it didn't show my calories burned.  I changed the activity to hike and then calories showed up. I'd say slogging through the snow is more strenuous than hiking.

  • Where is Strava's answer for this problem. I have not seen one comment from them.  Do they not monitor their message boards for comments like this?  This is a simple problem to solve.  If Strava can't be my "all-in-one app"  to track all of my fitness than I don't need to pay 8 bucks a month

  • The chances that they will answer are pretty slim indeed. I have contacted customer support so many times and received no answers, it is surprising that they are actually a functioning entity. I am a paying customer as well, $80 a year and not even a reply on basic things such as this. Why would Strava not import the data from my Garmin HR monitor for calories?

  • I have my weight entered and can see my heart rate during workouts but it won’t show me calories burned unless I am out for a run. Has this issue still not been resolved? Like others I am trying to record all of my workouts in one location.

  • I had the same issue. You have to go to your profile settings, then to data permissions and allow access to health - related data
