Strava Challenges - hide them from my activity feed

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but could you please allow me to hide all challenges from my activity feed? I really don't care if someone I follow joins ten different challenges, or completes percentages of them, all it does is clog up my feed. I only follow around 28 people and it can take me pages to find an actual activity, I don't know how anyone who follow hundreds of people deal with this!

  • Agree! Challenges are great motivation for lots of people but they can clog up the activity feed. Maybe Strava could add another menu option under the Dashboard labeled Challenges to view all my friends challenges.

  • Ditto, would be great to see a mute button or the like. I follow ~90 people and I don't want to un-follow them just because they want to join a challenge for what ever reason.

  • If you use Adblock in your web browser, you can easily create your own filter to clean up your activity feed.

  • I didn't know you could do that, however it's also in the Strava app. Quite a timely comment, last few days everyone is joining the April challenges, for the ones that bith run and ride, there are a lot to join!

  • totally agree!!! seen comments about this for years and yet Strava continues to ignore it.  It cant be that hard to give users some control over what comes onto their feed, Ive resorted to unfollowing people because I cant be bothered scrolling through all the monthly challenges and everytime someone decides to track their walk to the shops or station!

  • I find myself reluctant to join challenges, because I know that those following me will have their activity feed clogged up with notifications that I just joined 4 challenges.

One solution could be to stop publishing to the activity feed any time someone simply "joins" a challenge. Another would be to allow users the option to hide Challenge information from their activity feed (This is the most often requested.)

People have been requesting this on support.strava.com for years now. I see Elle Anderson responded to this suggestion. Are there actually plans to do something about it?

  • Any updates on this? These challenges are also starting to clutter up the mobile feed, a filter would be much appreciated.

  • Yup - really pointless and takes up loads of screen real estate..

  • We've been requesting this change for years now. Please! Give us the option to filter challenges from our feed!

  • Thanks everyone, our designers are working on a solution for this. We will be releasing changes later this year to better manage the space used for various items in the feed. Challenge join notifications are one of the areas considered to make the information in the feed more efficient (we agree, the current handling of challenge notifications is inefficient!)

    Stay tuned!

  • In classic Strava style, the years move on and on and nothing ever changes from Strava representatives. If you go through some of the forum requests you'll see how much of a joke it is.

I love the basic premise of Strava, but their development strategy is alsolutely terrible. They just don't care and know that they can away with it.

  • Please add an option to hide the challenges from my dashboard/feed. Thanks!

  • I use uBlock, for now these two lines seem to resolve it:

    strava.com##DIV[class='challenge feed-entry card']
    strava.com##DIV[class='card challenge challenge-group-entry feed-entry']

  • Another vote for this missing feature. We need more control over our feeds. The challenge posts are obtrusively implemented where actual ACTIVITIES are supposed to be - especially at the beginning of the month, and when a single challenge spams the feed with several updates for a single ride.

If you use Chrome, I’d highly recommend the Elevate extension as a workaround. No help for the app though.

  • I agree - the feed is spammed with all the challenges. The user should be able to decide.

On top of that it would be nice if there is a official Strava comment on this. Where have you been Elle since 2017?

  • So many people joining challenges, clogs up feed totally! Can't be that difficult to implement an option to remove!? Only option is to stop following people who join lots of challenges, which I've done, but seems counter to the whole point of using Strava.

  • I have 13 back to back postings of challenges in my feed today, plus a few postings from Zwift missions and other stuff for which I have zero interest. Is Strava doing everything to annoy its users? Is the solution to stop following my contacts (I only have around 60) and remove people following me? Are Strava Premium members having better luck with managing the noise in their feed?

  • I am not sure how this is still an issue. My feed is full of other people's challenges. This is annoying. At least make it an option you can turn off in the premium feature.

  • It's become much worse and looks out of control. My feed is polluted by challenges from less than 10 people I'm following plus Strava nonsensical missions. Utterly annoying!

I was able to get rid of all annoying posts on my computer using AdBlock with these filters:

    www.strava.com##DIV[class="card challenge challenge-group-entry feed-entry"]
    www.strava.com##DIV[class="challenge feed-entry card"]
    www.strava.com##DIV[class="club feed-entry card"]
    www.strava.com##DIV[class="post feed-entry card"]

  • I want this feature as well! I don’t want to join most challenges, and I could care less about who joins them. Why not have a separate tab, for challenges?

  • Challenges are total pointless bs. Just let us ignore them completely. I couldn’t give less of a toss about any challenge or other people joining them. Nor could I find it more annoying that this pointless meaningless crap clogs up the activity feed so much

  • Beyond ridiculous that this simple feature to remove challenges spam from feed timeline is still not available . Many of those asking are actually paying customers/subscribers of strava.

  • After years of using free version of strava just agreed on premium, and you know what? No way to turn off on premium too.. So simple so annoying so long implementing thing - just can't understand..
