  • Hello...not sure if I'm missing this, but I use the Strava app on my Apple Watch (version 1), and I am not hearing the audio announcements when running when I "start" recording with my watch.  If I do the recording via my phone, I get the announcements.....not sure why this isn't working.

    Thanks

  • Why do announcements and recorded times / distances differ so greatly?

  • On my workphone (Iphone) strava works just fine. My personal Phone is a Samsung S7. Since I have this Phone the strava app doesn't work properly anymore. I cannot hear any notifications. The sound of my music goes down, like after a mile when I should get a notification, but I don't hear anything. I really like to hear where I am at during my run. I looked at my settings, and they are in order. Can you fix this???

  • To those of you discussing how to set the volume of the mileage audio cues: the only reliable way I've found to set the volume (this is on iPhone version) is to open Settings > Audio Cues, pick a distance, and *while the sample sound is playing*, adjust the volume.

The iPhone seems to decide which volume you are trying to set based on what is showing on screen and what is happening on the phone. If the phone is locked, or is showing the GPS recording screen, changing the volume seems to set the ringer volume, not the Strava audio cue volume. If music is playing, it may only change the music volume. And so on.

  • Finally found solution for audio coach.

Android Phone Settings > Language & Input >Text to Speech> select Google Text-to-Speech engine

Mine was on Samsung. Probably after last system update.

Now it works :-). Helpful for keeping pace during runs

  • Yes! Thank you Igmar, you figured out how to solve the problem when Strava couldn't. Lots of kudos to you!!!

  • Hi,

Audio run announcements aren't in sink with the per min/km splits i.e. at each half a kilometer it is massively different to the overall min/km. Its as if it announces 0.5km 100m to early. Please can you help or are others seeing this problem?

  • I see that audio announcements for biking have been requested as far back as 2014 - this is the only feature keeping me on another app.  Please consider allowing this!  I enjoy hearing updates from my phone in my pocket every mile on a ride.

  • Hi, i just download the app, and suscribe for premuin, but i had to return to use my old app (runstatic) because strava doesn´t have feedback during the cycling training. its a really complete app but it does not tell me what is my pace, or other kind of announcements, makes it a very unuseful app. i have paid only $5 dolars for runstatic (just one time not monthly like strava) and it is more complete. Please, i like KOMs, improve your app as the clients are requesting.

  • Hi - I know I'm about four years late on this one. I love the audio updates, they really help me push my times down. However, one thing which is a constant frustration is that it doesn't pause my spoken audio. I listen to podcast and audiobooks - especially on my longer runs, and so I either have to pause my podcast/audiobook or backtrack after the announcement has been made.

Maps on iOS or Google Maps both have options to "Pause Spoken Audio" - I would love to see this feature incorporated into audio announcements.

  • I'm on an iPhone X, just upgraded to OS 12, and now the former charming female Strava voice is now a computerized male voice.  Any thoughts?

  • I’m in exact same boat as above comment. Robovoice now instead of female life-like voice. Robovoice is lame.

  • The new robot voice in the Strava app is HORRIBLE!!!  Please change it back to the woman's voice.  If it doesn't happen soon, I will switch to a different app to track my runs.  What a small and easy change for someone to do that makes a huge difference to users.  Someone at Strava dropped the ball.

  • I can barely hear the computerized male voice and have spent quite a bit of time trying to find a way to toggle it back to the Female Voice.  The Robot-Voice is barely intelligible and in fact I am strongly considering disabling this feature and may even go back to Nike where at least I can understand the feedback.  It's a pity that Nike allows you to choose voice and feedback items.....

  • The new voice is grating, and the volume on the cues is too low to be heard.

  • I found the volume for the audio announcements made during the run can be altered by increasing the System Volume not the Media Volume........ hope this helps.

  • This past Saturday I went for a run and was pleased to hear the return of the the much more pleasant and intelligible female voice!

  • Would be great to have audio cue for total average pace of run given at customizable intervals. This is standard on many run apps. Thanks!

  • Make them louder! Even though I set the volume on my phone to maximum before I start running, I can only hear the audio announcements if I'm running somewhere silent (away from roads and rivers and no wind).

The old robot voice was fine, but it became too quiet to hear sometime around the end of last year. This is a huge problem that affects which routes I can run and how I can manage my pace.

  • The cues are good but I wish they where possible to customize more. E.g to only have the km split time, not to total time.

  • I think I can help. You may need to enable ‘Amplify speech volume’ for Google’s ‘Text to speech output’. It helped me.

  • Well, the run logging in Strava was effectively killed when they dropped bluetooth support for heart rate sensors...
