  • Why does my strava app send my Apple Watch workout triplicate of every workout?

  • Happens to me too. Sometimes it's as many as 10 workouts for a single run. It's rather silly Strava can't get this right.

  • Are you referring to the duplicate entries that can appear in Apple Health? We have a known issue article on the topic for you to reference.

  • I've had my apple watch 2 for about 4 weeks.  The heart rate data was uploaded to strava for my first few activities, but this has now stopped.  I've tried re-installing strava on my iPhone SE.  Strava and 'Health' are properly linked - I have allowed Strava to access HR data in 'Health'.  Any help would be gratefully received.

  • I'm having trouble with Strava while running through my Apple Watch (series 2).  My distances are off.  It didn't start out this way, but recently Strava is giving me about .5 mile further than what I am actually running.  I ran on yesterday on a course that I had previously run on using Strava, and the the first time was correct, but yesterday was off by exactly .5 miles.  Can anyone help me out with this?  Thanks in advance!

  • Matt, I'm having the same problem. Lately, when using Strava with my Apple Watch series 2 the distances for some of my runs are off by as much as a mile. Most of the routes I've run dozens of times and it's only recently that this issue has been happening. Anyone else seeing this or have ideas?

  • Yes, this happens to others. There are no workarounds. Strava acknowledges the problem. It is not high enough priority for them to fix.

  • New (to me) issue this evening. Went for run with Strava on my watch, came home and the watch connected to my iPhone as usual, got the "your workout is ready to upload" notification, but there nothing in Strava.

Have tried force quitting the app and restarting, but still hasn't uploaded.

Hope I haven't lost the run.

  • Apple Watch Strava Syncing Issues

I have Strava iOS version 5.13.0 on my iPhone,  iOS 10.2.1 on my iPhone and Apple Watch watchOS 3.1.3. Today I went for a ride but when I got done I completed and saved the session on my Apple Watch. I did not however open Strava on my iPhone until a few hours later. When I did so I expected my watch and phone to sync but nothing happened. As far as the iOS app is concerned it is like the workout never occurred. Interestingly enough the Activity app on the iPhone shows that ride. Is there anyway to get this workout on the Strava iOS app? Thank you.

  • I recently tried starting the strava app on my apple watch and, while it does initiate, the "start" button is non-responsive.  I can't get past it.  The last successful usage was on 2/27.  Now the app is unusable.

  • Just started using the Strava app on the Apple Watch Series 2. Everything is working out great.... but...... the distances are off compared to my Suunto GPS watch. And normally the two devises are both accurate. I have been out on two runs and the first one measured about 200 m longer on the Strava app. And the second one about 100 m longer on the Strava app. Please give some advise how to fix this.

  • Since the new update when starting a work out on iPhone it doesn't show on the app on Apple Watch. Do not want to start workout on watch as doesn't speak pace, too temperamental when wet and often pauses which can be infuriating when doing long runs. Need an option for Apple Watch 1 users to just have a strava data display as it used to be

  • Matthew Wilson: thank god it's not just me!!
The new iWatch Strava app update is plain sh1t. Now the app saves your run/ride as something like a gpx  file then updates the phone after the event. If you start the activity on the phone nothing shows up on the watch. Also audio announcements have stopped completely... Strava want you to pay premium (which I am currently) and the bloody app does not work.
STRAVA - go back to the old app - it worked, don't cock about with it.

  • Same issue as Matthew Wilson above. Any activity started on the phone no longer shows on the Apple Watch.  It's effectively two seperate apps now, and you either initiate and activity on the phone (and don't use the watch at all), or use the watch and ignore the phone.  I've run twice without realising both devices were recording the run seperately, after pressing 'start' on the watch when I didn't see the normal display after starting the run on the phone.

Right now I'm still running with the phone for voice prompts and spotify playlists, so it's pretty crucial the watch can display the activity being tracked by the phone.  I've looked for a setting, but can't see it anywhere.

    Thanks!

  • Having the same issue as everyone else. Started a run on my Apple Watch series 1. FInished, clicked save and got the ready to upload to iOS notification. But, didn't open my phone immediately. Opened the strava app after half an hour and the run was lost. My phone recorded the steps in HealthKit but no sign of the workout.. this is deeply annoying.

  • Same issue as above, start an ride on Apple Watch series 1 and it's like the Watch and iPhone app are separate apps, there is nothing on iPhone until the end when I finish, this means I'm not showing as an active ride to my friends as the iPhone app hasn't started, it also misses chunks out on the ride, 2 days ago I rode with my friend who used the iPhone app and I used the Watch so I could keep track and we did same miles and he completed at 23.3 miles and mine was 17.3 miles! The missing section was just linked on the map so looked like that's all I have done! If alone I wouldn't have known!!!!! Is there going to be any updates to get the Watch app and iPhone app working in sync?

  • Same for me - The watch doesn't reliably keep recording, but if you start on the iPhone, you get no data on the watch (Watch Series 0).

You can see on this activity - https://www.strava.com/activities/907130054 - my partner recorded 30km, I got 16 - there's a visible gap in the middle of the ride.

Can it be an option to have it run on the phone and show on the watch for those of us with older devices?

    Thanks!

  • I wasn't crazy about the change to "Your workout is ready for upload" after recording a ride on the watch, but it seemed that in practice I didn't have to open the iPhone app to have the workouts uploaded.

However, as of today the watch app seems to have lost access to GPS.  When ending the recording, I get "You didn't move anywhere so there's nothing to record" (or words to that effect) -> "Discard workout".  This happened both this morning and this evening.  What happened?

  • Just went for a run. After ending it on my watch it told me it couldn't reach my iPhone (which I had on me) and would sync as soon as there's a connection.

Been waiting an hour for that sync to happen. Looks like my workout is gone. Damn. :(

EDIT: Just gave it another try. There seems to be some serious issues: I restarted both, my watch and phone and went for a 1km test run. After ending it told me there was no connection between my watch and my phone and the workout would be uploaded as soon as there's a connection. Too bad that sync never happens. Been sitting here with both apps open for 30 minutes and it's not syncing.

My watch and phone are connected to each other just fine. I can answer messages from my phone without any problem. Strava, please fix this.

EDIT 2: After waiting for some more time the initial workout synced, but is completely wrong: It says I ran for 31:20 (which is the time I stopped the workout) but it's missing the last 1km of my run. It just stopped counting kilometres before I even ended the run. WTF.

Did the math: There's about 0,8km missing from my run. No idea why it stopped logging distance but kept counting time.

  • I have an Apple Watch series 2 and the watch app has now become unusable. I open the app on my watch, and I get a screen with the Strava logo and a circular indicator that just spins forever, and the app never starts recording. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and the same problem still exists. Eventually the app shuts down, i.e the Strava logo disappears, but when I start it again, same thing. So essentially the watch app is now useless.

  • I went for a run today with my watch (series 2) and left my phone at home. When I hit 'start' on the watch app, literally nothing happened. I hit it a bunch of times, tried restarting the watch, nothing worked. In the end I recorded the run with Runkeeper :(

  • Apple watch series 2 app stopped working for me. It opens and shows the 'start' button, but pressing it does absolutely nothing. The button digitally suppressing shows me it's feeling the touch (so not necessarily a watch hardware issue) but the tracking never starts. Worked a few weeks ago fine, but now won't begin tracking.

  • I was able to get it going by removing Strava from my phone and watch. Powered the watch off.   Installed Strava on my phone again and then I accessed the app on the watch after powering it up and this time received the allow prompts for the Strava app on the phone and after responding to them it now works.  I'll have to take it for a run now and check it out 😜   Can't wait
