Shoe mileage not tracking properly

I added a new pair of shoes to my Strava account. I've logged 9+ miles in them, however I only have 6 miles showing up. I rely on Strava (backed up by journal entries) to track my shoe mileage. Does anyone know how I can get this to track properly. I'm worried that maybe this has been happening to my other shoes too!

  • I've just noticed the same. Shoe tracking is messed up completely. My default shoes that I've recently added now show 82 miles even though I've done only one short run in them. On the other hand my other pair of shoes shows only 9 miles when the actual mileage should be about 60. And who knows what other shoes have their mileage messed up. I always set correct shoes when I upload my activities.

  • It turns out it is possible to go to Training --> My Activities, select "Run" as activity type and then Strava shows a filter for Shoe name which allows me to see all activities for a given shoe. Guess what, I've just manually added mileage for a number of my shoes that I used recently, and for many of them (at least 5 that I checked) the shoe mileage shown in My Gear is wrong, sometimes significantly.

Shoe mileage tracking is messed up indeed!

  • Yeah, shoe mileage is messed up. It just started this weird computation since July.

  • I have the same problem - it seems like whenever I set the default shoe to something, but I change it in the activity to another shoe, that's when it doesn't update the mileage for either shoe.

  • Ed might be correct. It could be that when a run is uploaded, and it sets the shoe as your default one, the mileage is added to that shoe, but when you change it after upload, it doesn't change the mileage. :(

  • It’s not working properly. And I’m not sure since when?

  • Goto profile and REFRESH STATS. This will sort it out.

  • I modified a run from a few months ago from having Shoes A to be on my default shoe and the distance was removed from the Shoe A total. When I edited the activity again shortly after and changed the shoe back to Shoe A, the distance was not re-added to Shoe A.

As Mark suggested, using the refresh stats button on the profile page fixed it for me.

  • Mark, "REFRESH STATS" worked for me! Thank you!

  • Refresh stats doesn't work on my footwear tracking. It was tracking fine until about a month ago and then lost pretty much all tracking stats, especially on footwear that is linked against walks and hikes.

  • I'm having the same problem. I use this feature to track mileage on multiple pairs of shoes. I always edit my runs to the correct shoe but it doesn't seem to be tabulating properly for any of my shoes now...

  • I'm seeing issues as well.  This morning I logged a 7.5 mile run.  My shoes had 326 miles on them before the run and now they show 307.  Wanky.  This is a really important feature for me.

  • Hi Folks!

If the "Refresh Stats" button doesn't seem to be working for you, I suggest contacting our team so we can help you out one-on-one. Cheers.

  • My shoe tracking mileage is way out. I just just spent a while adding up all my tracked runs and of those 69 runs, my mileage is 425km. My gear states that it is on 767km. I have refreshed my stats many times over the months and nothing. No change. The system just can't add up. I have no idea where the extra 322km has come from. I have been out of running due to an operation for the last 2 months and still not right.

  • 2019 now - china is sending landers to the back side of the moon and still strava can´t calculate differnet distances of  running shoes properly or manually add mileage to existing shoes. Should have been staying with runtastic.

  • I have the same issue, this isn't good enough. I was thinking of paying for the app. I won't bother!

Second rate Strava I will call it from now and and will recommend the Nike app.

  • Same issue with my shoes, as well as my bikes.  Very frustrating and so much for my plan to switch to Strava from manually logging my runs into the Garmin app.

  • Same issue for me. Just refreshed stats too and it added another 12 miles to my total on a pair of shoes...

  • Wish this would get sorted. Off all the features on Strava surely assigning mileage of a run to a shoe must be one of the least complicated things they have to get right.

  • I just started having this problem this year, with my current pair of shoes.  I added a new pair on Feb. 12. I thought the mileage Strava showed was accumulating slowly, so I downloaded all my runs since then. Strava says I have done only 184.5 miles on this pair. The training log shows I have 343.31 miles. This is a difference of 158.81 miles!   It would be nice if someone from support actually notices this and lets us know what is going on.

  • Same issue with my bike, it add seems to add the km only after few days from the activity. I've open two support ticket several days ago but with no response.

Is not correct that we pay for the app and we don't have a minimal support. I belive that i will unsubscribe the app...
