Strava stops recording oneplus3 again

Strava not working on Oneplus3 oreo

I have been using Strava for years now and would love to continue to.  . . Somehow after the Oreo update on the OnePlus3 strava wouldn't stay open while i was on my rides.  Back in October or December or maybe even January i fixed the issue turning off all the optimization and  resetting the gps and so on . .. .  But now here we are in March 2018 and the issue is back all of a sudden. . .   wtf ??  I have done the same things even uninstalled and reinstalled. . . It seems the app simply stops after five minutes. . .   Can we please focus on fixing this issue ?    Thanks

  • christopher: that doesn't matter. Strava recording has been broken since the Oreo update and they haven't been able to fix it for weeks. It has nothing to do with your settings. You need to find a different device to record with (like a sports watch) or get the phone out of your pocket and check the app every now and again while recording to make sure it doesn't crash or otherwise stop recording.

  • Jeff: This won't really help you, but maybe Strava's tech support will see this and do something other than the form letter I've seen in the past. I have this same issue that started right around an upgrade to Oreo on a OP5T. I have ran another navigation/GPS/track recording app (back country navigator) app and that app stopped at the same point. There's something in Oreo that's causing it. I have tried it with doze off and on, cleared my dalvik cache, regular cache, cleared my gps and re-downloaded the satellite data, un/reinstalled strava, etc., etc., etc. Yet it persists. Strava needs to introduce some wakelock feature when you're recording that looks for any stops and just restarts the recording. This would be a pretty straight forward fix...

  • I have the same problem. I am using Strava for just over 1 month. The first 3 rides were fine but the last 4 or 5 did not record or just for about 10 or 15 minutes, then a week later I get a message that I have done 9.7Km in 130 hours.

I have given up on it.

  • I now gave up on the app and got myself a runners watch with GPS. Highly annoying that Strava and Google are not able to fix this at all

  • I ended up getting a pixel XL but I did find out that if I installed the gps app "gps status" and also made sure the app resitrictions were edited it continued to work on the op3
