Personal Heatmaps do not update

For the last couple of days, clicking "update" for any of the maps on the personal heatmaps page switches the Last Updated to "Queued". However, nothing is happening like normal after the queued message. I checked back after a day and still see "2 weeks ago" updated.

  • Same here.

As a work around you can remove the heatmap and create a new one. This works fine for me.

  • I don't have the premium account right now, so I don't know if they fixed it. However, the suggestion above to just remove the heatmap and let it build another worked fine as a workaround when I posted this back in May.

  • This just happened to me for the first time today about 30 minutes ago. It says my update is in queue as 408 out of nearly 500. It typically updates instantly. Anyone else encountering this problem at the moment?

  • My heat maps have not been updating for the last few days. It will queued ...( no.of no. ) and then go back to saying 1 day ago. Also cannot generate any new heat maps for say all of 2019.

  • I have the same issue, started when I tried to generate new 2019 heatmaps for running and cycling, now nothing will update (neither 2019s or all-times), and I have to generate from new. Annoying.

  • I've had a reply from Strava support about this and basically if you have 10 or more heatmaps they won't update, if you have 9 or fewer then they will. So get you number down to 9 and they will work!

  • Thats too bad - since an obvious use case is to be able to see each year, independent of others as a general tracking tool. And since I uploaded ride data from a previous service, I have data back to 2010. 10 years of riding, plus an all time = 11 heat maps.

@strava, any plans to enhance this feature?

  • Michael Stokes, had a similar response a couple of weeks back.

"We are aware of this issue and working on a resolution. Unfortunately, I do not have a timeline for when the issue will be resolved. In the meantime, if you were to remove one of the heatmaps you should be able to update any of the remaining ones."

I'm not satisfied with this, and to Jaxon M.'s comment, maybe a solution would be to enable downloading of personal heatmaps beyond the limit of 10 that they set. (Which effectively is 9.)

I'd like to see the heatmap feature enhanced further. At the moment one can only create running and cycling heatmaps, but I run, I hike, I orienteer, I road bike, I mountain bike, and I ski, and I use Strava to track all of these activities. I generated a skiing heatmap recently by redefining the activity as cycling, then generating a heatmap constrained by specific dates, before changing the activity type back to alpine skiing. I did a screen capture of the heatmap, edited in photoshop, then deleted heatmap from Strava so that I could update my "cycling 2019". Next year, when I will want to keep 2 new heatmaps in addition to the 10 I already have.....
