Apple Watch Syncing issues

Having a problem syncing rides with Strava.  After a ride, I will finish and save the ride but it will not upload and show in Strava until I start and upload another activity.  What gives?

    Hi Folks,

You can try forcing a sync:

To force a sync of an activity that was recorded using the Strava Apple Watch app, go to the Strava app settings then select history. Next, select the activity you want to sync then press sync. With the Strava app open on the watch, open the Strava iPhone app go to the “you” feed and pull down on the feed to refresh the feed and this will trigger a sync.

If the above doesn’t work please restart both the Apple Watch and the iPhone and repeat the steps above.

  • Similar issue with my i6s not syncing after an activity. Updates are current on the BOLT and phone. Sometimes it syncs at a random time later in the day.

  • I remember this happening to me before... I was able to manually upload it by going into "History" on the AW and click on the activity and manually upload/sync it. Hope it helps.

  • I’m having similar problem. My watch battery died right at the end of a marathon. As I pressed save it then switched off. Luckily when I charged it the run is showing in history, but it’s refusing to sync!

I tried a new small run to test and this has synced but my marathon one is stuck on the watch. Please help! This was my PB and I’d really like to not loose it!!

    Thanks

  • I had the same issue as Fraser Hardy. I have tried logging off of the Strava app on my phone (twice) and restarting my watch and my phone without any luck. The most recent run shows in my watch history but will not sync. I am interested in any suggestions!

  • For me restarting my iPhone helped. After restarting I synched the run manually and it worked.

  • Hi Everyone,

Please check the history folder on your watch (and be within range of your iPhone) to see if the activity is there: Strava app > Settings > History

You can tap to resync individual activities. If you continue to have issues, please write to the support team so we can help you troubleshoot.

  • Hi Jess:  I am trying to synch an individual activity from my watch to iPhone but it's not working.  Normally, I go to Settings>History in the watch app and synch the individual activity from there.  But now when I tap "Synch", nothing happens.  Can you help?

  • Hi
I had the same issue with the watch not uploading my run even if I tried to manually sync. Watch was also having some technical issues, difficulty scrolling between the watch faces so checked for software update for the watch which fixed the scrolling issue and was able to sync my run.

  • Just to follow up on my experience, went for a run today and synced automatically straight after my run so looks like (at least for me) it was the Apple Watch software update that was needed.

  • Manually didn't work. The next day it suddenly synced automatically. Last run it synced automatically. Perhaps AW update 5.0.1 solved the problem

  • I’ve restarted phone and watch multiple times, quit the app, ensured that I’m on the latest version 66.0.1... hit the manual sync on the history item several times between... even to the point where I have received notifications on my phone telling me that the activity is now on my iOS device and ready to view.... STILL nothing.

    Watch OS 5.0.1
    iOS 12

    iPhone Xs

  • Same :-(   I updated to the latest app, no good.

I went for a ride this AM.  It completed successfully, I saved it.  Got home and no sync. I looked in history and the morning ride was there,  tried to manually sync no luck. I went for a quick walk and saved it.  The walk sync'd correctly, but not the ride.

  • Hey Folks,

It's best to write to our team for issues like this as it's hard to pinpoint what's going on exactly based on your posts.

    Cheers!

  • I had the same problem and it was solved by reinstalling strava on the watch from the watch app on the iPhone. My run info did not get lost in the process.

  • Same problem here (Apple watch s4 5.01 & IOS 12.0 & Strava 69.0.0)

2 activities in history on watch but not showing up in strava IOS app. Tried everything WITHOUT success: sync from watch; restart watch; log out/in of strava app; restart phone. Nothing worked

don't reinstall strava app on watch! You lose your history and have to start over with settings.

I love strava (best pause functionality, good sectors and comparisons with others), but if I cannot leave my phone at home then it is not the app for me.

Update I just did a small activity. AW strava notified me that activity was ready for upload; phone Strava notification said the same and invited me to open strava app. Opened app and latest activity loaded after a few seconds and interestingly so did 2 earlier activities which refused to 'sync'. As I reinstalled my AW strava app I only have 1 activity in my AW history. This might suggest that the activities did upload earlier but only did not show up in the phone app.

  • Jess:

I have tried to "write to the Strava team" but the request submission does not work. It won't let me send the help request.

Is there another way to reach Strava support?

  • I stepped up to a new iPhone Xs from an iPhone 6. Apparently some settings were not complete, and had to find out what the problem might be, since the Apple Watch (Series 2) did not sync automatically when launching the Strava app on the new Xs. Rebooted the AW, but no change. Then I kicked the Strava app from the watch (using the iPhone AW app), reinstalled it again, but now my history was empty. But somehow, the data did a sync somehow, because when looked at the Strava app on the iPhone Xs, the run was there suddenly. I hope to have set all the things correct now. Oeff.. :-)

  • Reinstall the app from the watch iOS app. History will push when reinstall happens.
