Google Wear Heart Rate Monitor to Sync with Strava Android app

Hello,

I'm not satisfied with the accuracy of the GPS on the Strava Google Wear app. So I want to record it with my Smartphone App and add the heart rate later. Is there a Google Wear App that records the heart rate and has the option to export it to Strava later?

  • I would love this... Best of both worlds.
Record main activity on Strava Android mobile (phone)
Push heart rate from Strava Android Wear app.

  • It would also be a nice feature to pair your Wear OS device as a heart monitor.

  • Agreed. We need this.

I recently ran a 2.59 mile training route that I have run many hundreds of times in the past, but Strava on my Fossil Sport (running Wear OS 2.2) measured it as 3.15 miles. That's a few orders of magnitude off.

This is my basic training loop. I've run it with hMapMyRun and Google Fit on my phone (i.e. using my phone's GPS). Every time, the course measures using my phone's GPS at 2.59 miles +/- 0.02 miles. It's consistent as can be. I've measured it using a computer program (2.58 miles). But more importantly, if I run it using only Google Fit on my watch (using the watch's GPS), then it still measures at 2.59 +/- 0.04 miles (not as accurate as the phone's GPS, but still reasonable).

When I look at the map generated by Strava from the GPS readings taken by Strava on my watch, it looks like I was running through people's front yard and over their roofs, instead of running down the road as I actually go. There is something unique (and flawed) by the way that Strava takes GPS readings on the watch.

I'm going to run the same route (I run it about 5x a week) soon and use Strava on my phone instead of the watch. It'll be interesting to see how it records the distance differently. Of course, by using the phone instead of the watch, I won't have any heart rate data. It's a shame that we can't run Strava on phone and watch simultaneously and in tandemI'd use the GPS in my phone and HRM in my watch in combination. Ideally could use both apps while the two apps communicate with each other in realtime so that our distance would be displayed on the watch, but measured on the phone.

  • Hi, you could try wear os application 'Heart for Bluetooth' on google play store which does the trick. You can use your watch as HR Monitor and connected Phone with Strava as recording device. best

  • Probably Cardiogram can do something like this now, I just sett it up, gotta see how it behaves tomorrow when biking it doesn't show up in starva but they all end up in Google Fit or Apple health maybe at the end.

For running on the other hand the watch app can take the position from the phone if you have it with you so the precision is good enough.

It has now workout function to do monitoring your heart more, the normal state is one a minute, still not bad.
