Manual Entry of Relative Effort for Entries Without One

I’m using relative effort as a feature to track my Goldilocks ‘not too much, not too little’ effort for the week. Very useful, but now I have an indoor cycle that didn’t get a relative effort score but was a fairly big effort. Now my weekly effort is wrong. I could likely guess what it roughly was and enter a value manually so my weeks relative effort looks right. That’s the feature I’m after.

  • I agree. Different background though: my heartrate monitor sometimes doesn't work, or I forgot to use it, or I recorded the activity in another app without any heart rate data. In those situations it would be very helpfull if I could manually add the relative effort. It might not be really accurate, but it would improve the accuracy of the Freshness and Fitness graph which would otherwise be useless.

  • I agree also. It messes up the fitness / freshness score.

  • I forgot to use my heart rate monitor for my last ride. Now my Fitness Freshness graph is incorrect. I would be able to fairly accurately enter it based on previous activities that were the same. I would like this feature.

  • Same here.  Forgot the HR monitor at home and just did an intense workout.  Would like the ability to enter an estimate based on my past experiance.

  • Please add this feature - I recorded a swim set with Garmin & have HR data in the Garmin connect app & want to at least add times in each zone to feed into fitness and freshness - which I use to judge overtraining - clearly the point of the feature.

  • When we post on here does Strava even see it/make efforts to resolve it? This is super frustrating and more so seeing there is still no solution. Hard to comprehend how companies can make unfinished products and charge an arm and a leg. Coming to the end of my “trial” period I am really wondering if this glitchy, until now useful app is worth it. The other thing that has me frustrated and without resolve over the last 8months of using Strava is the multiple workout entries that get synced to Apple Watch. My OCD drives me crazy having to delete duplicate entries on the regular. Smh

  • This is indeed one area where Strava is missing out. It is not rare for HR monitors to fail, and this messes up the data quite badly. This is not the case with Garmin Connect and TrainingPeaks (I use all three precisely because of shortcomings like this one on Strava). Strava please fix this!

  • I cannot understand why this hasn't been implemented.  It can't be that hard to code and I cannot think of any objection in principle.

My work-around is to export a .FIT file from my HR monitor for a similar activity and to use the 'Time Adjuster' tool at www.fitfiletools.com to change the date and time of the activity.  The new file can then be uploaded to Strava.  you can also use the 'Section Remover' tool to create a shorter activity from a longer one.

If you want to do more adjustments than that, you need to use the tools at www.thisisant.com/resources/fit.  The SDK allows you to turn a .FIT file into a .CSV file which you can then edit to your heart's content in a spreadsheet and turn back into a new .FIT file.  But be warned:  it is a very fiddly business which needs a painstaking turn of mind.

  • The most notable behavior here is that while Strava does have the community forum section for these comments to be posted and shared, it seems that they go unnoticed, unread or perhaps ignored.   Certainly it hasn't been acknowledged.

Perhaps they are such a tiny company that ... well... fill in the blank...

  • Hey Strava support !!!!!

Are you going to respond to this issue? Will it be fixed ? Are you working on an improvement ?

I had a HR Bluetooth fail today and would love to add a manual relative effort. The score I received was a 2 and it screws up my weekly effort.
